The model is attached.

I received this model in my e-mail yesterday from a contributor. He uses 3DS max for modelling, and he says he used something called "CAT rigging" for the animation.

Why can't DBP display it correctly? What can I do to fix this?

I have tested your model with a model view program that I wrote.
And I have the same result.

I have in the past worked with the 3ds format
And I have the same kind of results with it.
Even if I had it converted to. X or. DBO.

I now use no 3ds models more as a source for my 3d models.

I'm sorry that i was unable to help.

I hope that someone else has a answer to this.

Cheers Ron.

It seems that the mesh offset is wrong. I suppose it's a mere problem with Direct-X model exporter settings.

Well after a long group discussion on skype we finally resolved the problem. He applied "reset xform" on the body mesh.

along with converting cat bones into normal 3d max bones via exporting to fbx then importing back to 3dmax.

you're absolutely right. I tried before 3ds designed by AC3D and got the same results this is why I use DBO and .x.

As odd as it may sound, yes, it is an MLP game. It was peer pressure, I swear! The game style will be a hybrid between an RTS and an RPG, so you can control multiple units at once with a typical select/click interface (RTS), but the units you control are very robust, receive XP, and can be upgraded throughout the game (RPG). The graphics are going to be tilted towards being dark, maybe almost realistic.

I've been posting update videos on it, if you're interested, here's the latest one : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LabuK4lI5Q&feature=plcp

I can't believe I actually looked at the video.

Looks good though - especially the avoidance behaviour shown towards the end. Well done.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

I don't see why it's such a big problem to be honest. The show has a very in-depth story and complex character development, but it's a bit too "colourful" for many people's standards. So what I'm doing is taking that and turning it into something epic instead of fruity. How can that not be awesome?

Never had problems with panda directx exporter. Create model -> export model. Maybe you should try that.
