Hey everyone,

I've been searching across the forum to find out how to get characters to play 3d Sounds (so the volume of the sound fades as distance from the character increases), but have yet to find the solution.

This is what I gathered from a forum search:

Sound=X - This command is supposed to play a 3d sound from the entity's location, but it plays sound commands from the character at full volume
3dSound=X - Apparently this command doesn't even exist

It's weird because for some entities the sounds do fade out using the loopsound command. It's almost as if the sound fading is only applied if $0 or $1 is used.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks.

I've tried playing with those soundfade commands but never really found that they faded out at all; just a little bit. They never truly fade out, I have put a sound emitter at one end of the map and put the player at the other, and I can still hear the sound very clearly, but it will still get louder the closer you go to it.

I would really love to be have commands for setting sound range, volume, fading sounds out, etc. It would make fpsc environments more realistic and more immersive in my opinion...

But I have never ever tried this with characters before so I don't know, but all I know is...that the sound fading in fps creator doesnt really work like it should IMO.

bond1 uses 3 sounds in different volumes to create a soundfade for his waterfalls in metrotheater. so that he creates this workaround, i think there is no solution for this, yet.

Does sound hardware maybe affect the quality of 3d sounds?

I've seen videos of FPSC and have noticed 3D sound.
But I don't get it.
I think it may be a hardware issue saddly

If something compiles on the first try. Something is terribly wrong.
