Anyone else noticed that the USB Dongle is more expensive than DB Pro itself from amazon? USB dongle is £38.99 http://darkbasicpro.thegamecreators.com/?f=order_usb. Where as DB pro is £34.99 from amazon, http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00006G8H1/ref=sr_aps_software_1_1/026-2083096-5372403. How is that right?

because it was developed for schools and businesses rather than home users in mind.
the dongle comes with the dongle version of dbp, so really your only paying £4 for the dongle itself.

It's proberly because on this site dbpro costs £62.99.

According to the dongle page you must own dbpro to use it so it must not come with the dongle version of dbpro.

no need for a dongle with me... have 3 CD drives in my computer and 8 more networked on my server... so i have PLENTY of space

The TGC and Amazon prices are seriously out of kilter - Rick needs to get on to that.

Amazon have a large ammount of buying and negotiating power. I wouldn't be surprised if amazon had a bigger profit margin than tgc.

I don't see what tgc can do, they need to sell dbpro amazon don't. Tgc don't have a lot of leverage to reduce costs from the supplier.

This is all based on tgc having to buy through the uk publiser, if I was publishing dbpro in the uk I would make tgc buy through me so I had control of pricing and sales figures and so I wasn't wasteing marketing money boosting someone elses sales.

We sell at RRP and always will do. This is common practise. Adobe retail Photoshop from their site at RRP, Amazon undercut them. It's just the way it works.

Most people buy DBPro + another application (or more). Amazon don't and never will offer this.

Oh and you need to own DBPro already before buying the USB key. It doesn't work without it.

i always buy from the source... dont like going through 3rd party retailers... sometimes it messes up with support... not a good thing!

because some of us actually like installing DBP at several locations then just pluging the dongle in rather than having to goto all the bother of carrying the CD around.
at the end of the day considering to get the CD and Dongle is the same price as it was brand new just to get the CD, i don't see it being a big deal.

The other option is to create an image of the CD and use a utility such as Virtual Drive or Daemon Tools to keep the CD loaded at all times. I don't think this is illegal as you own the actual CD but someone may need to verify it.

Of course I hardly ever get asked for the CD so it's not really that big of an issue for me.

Your a student and you dont know how to remove CD protection? What is the world coming too... ?

For the price of dbpro and the dongle from this site you could almost buy 3 copies of dbpro from amazon.

The copy protection isn't really a problem anymore as it happens so infequently and is easy to remove.

The place I could se the dongle would be usefull is if you where using it in a school.
