FInally....it has begun. After many years off, I have finally decided to bring my brain-child back from the dead, after I stumbled across the last DS backup on our server. However, I would like to know the communities thougts on some aspects:

Firstly, where would you like me to go with this? Are you all bored and tired of my old style, or do you think I should return to the drawing board with the development. Secondly, I'm considering starting the entire game from scatch, as looking back, I can describe my earlier map-making as somewhat 'sub-par. However, are there any traits of the old DS that you would like to see carried over into the new version?

And lastly, I would like to mention that the DS Team has been revamped, and we now have a total of 10 members all working in our own studio, in the Sunny town of Aberystwyth (We even have a coffee machine! )

The members are:
*[Me Obviously]: Lead Map Developer
*Alex Potter: Texture Artist
*Sam Dew: Character and Entity models
*Hugh Lloyd: Sound Engineer
*Grant Steward: Shaders and GFX (currently also working for Rebellion)
*George Hackston: Concept Art and Secondary map Developer
*Alex Robinson: Scripting and AI
*Josh Barrett: Secondary Programmer
*Dave North: Marketing
*Jacob Evans: GUI and Decal artist (also Chief Coffee maker)

That is all for now.....Opinions and input gratefully received!

First of all I would check if the old maps are still within the memory cap when building with the current version.

For pre-1.16 maps, chances are high, that they wont build at all or have a terrible framerate - so maybe you won't have the choice between keeping them or starting again from scratch

It's great to see you're back again.

If something compiles on the first try. Something is terribly wrong.

I'd like to see a revamp, but maintain true to the original style. with new stuff FPSC supports there's no reason not to have some nice new FPSC tech on display!

CoZ! It's good to see you still around, and I'd be all over a DS reboot.

Cheers for the input everyone. I have decided for the sake of quality, that I will be starting the reboot from scratch. The team have spent today getting the 'limb camera' feature working alongside some quicktime events. All I can say is, this be unlike anything you have played from me before....

this is going to be interesting. after years has gone pass it is nice to see what this game can become in todays fpsc. you and your team will be most likely please with the new fpsc. so it is only this decent game get done from scratch. I also recommend using fpsc 118 to avoid bug problems. with bond1 new line up of monster this game could go somewhere big. plus all the shaders you need. I remember when this game was first work on I use to follow up on the progress of it. before Wolf hit the seen with his great level design this was one of the best fpsc game I have ever seen in its time. but this game is way overdue for a upgrade. so good luck on this I hope to see something more come out of it this time.

more than what meets the eye

Wherever you can go. Seriously, boil yourself a mug of coffee and think about what you can do in FPSC. Concider especially the memorycap and design your concepts and locations around it.

Your old style seems a bit dated concidering higher grade games we saw recently, but its still good. Style is purely an artists choice and shouldnt be dictated by the community. Most people will most likely suggest you to make it like something they saw before.

Having seen Old Demon Style: I liked the warm and rusty color pallette.

Oh! And being familiar with your work: don't go overboard with shader effects, please? It looks good if well done, but if its overdone it looks horribly out of place.

Best luck

@gendestroier
It also seems to work on x32 systems, but they aren't supported.

@CoZ
I never really saw much of Demon Sun, mainly because I wasn't a member then, just a casual lurker, but I'd like to see a revamp. Looking at the screenshots from your old thread, it looked pretty nice.
