I finally made my mind about what my game will be about so i started to create the beginning, a quick office confrontation. Please disguard the scifi models as they are just place holders for "Modern" style people. Please critique because i'll never know if it blows our not!

Thanks for the feedback!

Hey TriSpefear Studios,

Firstly there are a couple of problems with this level that I see, but trust me, I am no professional when it comes to this. I am glad that you are trying harder and harder to improve.

Firstly there is nothing on the ceiling. No lights, no fans or ventilation shafts, usually there is always something on a ceiling.

The walls are a little bare, it could maybe some pictures, or something like that. The desk looks like rock and its out of place with the wooden interior.

Most of all, look how close the char is to the fire place. If your like I, I like to stretch after a long day on the computer, or selling intelligence from what it looks like in that screen. If I fell backwards we are going to have a BBQ. The fireplace should be positioned somewhere else, you would have to take extra caution when getting out of that desk so something doesn't catch on fire.

Think about paper, if a piece of very important paper slides off the end of the desk it would glide back potentially catching on fire.

Also, if your job is to shoot the guy behind the desk even with body armor the blunt of the ballistic would make him fall backward right into the fire. Other than that its a great scene. Keep it up!

Thanks bro! I will for sure take all of your points for improvement. i'll fix the ceiling, bare walls, and put the fire place one block farther (is that good enough?)

The only thing I would question is what the barrel in the corner of the office is doing there? Just looks a little out of place.

Some suggestions on lighting might be:
If the two lamps in the room are the only two light sources then the light radius of each actor might be a bit large. Also the computer screens might be casting a "blue" light as well?

Good point on the barrel, any suggestions i could replace it with? I also understand what you mean by the computer light but what do you mean by the "light radius of each actor?"

I think he means the area of light produced by both light sources.

I opened this thread hoping to see a large map of sorts with lots of custom media and goodies.Unfortunately disappointed.

Show casing a single room hardly justify an opinion of being good or not.

But a good tip here would be, to look around the wip threads for ideas and to ditch the stock media and go custom if you want to live up to the chosen nickname ?

Come on you can do it, blow my socks off

Just been chatting to my neighbours teenage daughter and it turns out she's big into UFOs and aliens.

Which is cool because tomorrow she's getting abducted.

I know that i suck at FPSC and I perfectly understand what you are saying. I honestly need to learn how to model and texture if i want to live up to my "poorly" chosen nickname, but if i cannot master smaller scenes then how in the world could i possibly pull of larger levels? Thanks for the insight

Well the big thing is there is more than enough free media, there are far too many people here that create awesome media to count on my fingers alone. They have done this so you don't have to.

I am sure if you browse the media section you will find some thing that will tickle your fancy.

But nothing is better than getting your hands dirty. From your post I gather you never model or textured before then it is the perfect time to start.Get some thing like blender its free, perhaps not the most user friendly piece of software, but there is literally 100's of resources and tutorials with you in mind, better than most commercial software.

I'll look around for some custom media and hopefully i can figure out how to use blender. It is really complex and i'm still looking for a good tutorial to build from
