Looks promising.

Is the Tegra 3 chip compatible with AppGameKit?

Damn, was going to make a thread about it myself

Here's a video where Duarte from Google discussing Nexus 7 and 4.1.

http://www.theverge.com/2012/6/29/3126644/matias-duarte-on-android-4-1-jelly-bean-and-the-nexus-7

I have been thinking some time about getting a Transformer (Infinity looks nice) tablet to replace my netbook. Now I want a Nexus 7 but I don't really know what to use it for. Looks nice for gaming and reading, don't do much of either on my phone. Would love to see my own game running on it though.

Here's a review:

No 3G/LTE connection is kind of weird considering the focus on online content. 16 GB version is $50 extra, with no SD card slot that's not much space.

I do like the weight though, the same as a phone. Well, I have a SGS2 which is lighter, lighter than most smartphones.

I totaly agree on that, they say it's focused on gaming, but a top quality game today takes up 1gb of space as it is. And that has doubbled in 6 months. I wonder why they chose not to have SD card suport...

Could be the fact that its a way of making more money, someond thinks it may not be enough with 8gb, so they pay those 50$ for 16

We were thinking about getting a Nexus when it comes out. But I just saw this:
http://www.businessinsider.com/apple-and-android-patents-2012-7

EDIT: I just finished going through the list of infringed patents and am impressed at what Microsoft and Apple filed and received patents for. It almost makes the patent system absurd!

The patent system regarding software patents are simply put stupid. Most countries does not have software patents. As you can see most of these patents are from the US. Getting patents for simple solutions is one problem. Another is that there are companies buying companies just to get patents so they can sue other companies for money. There are companies making money from patent licenses but don't use the technology the patents are for.

Apple doesn't want to license their patents, instead they want to ban all competition. If Google and their partners can't do anything about this we might end up with a US ban on Android devices. I wonder how Americans as well as non Americans will react to such an outcome.

The Nexus 7 and the Galaxy Nexus are 2 different devices though.

Wow, I just went thru that list and half of the patents basicaly say "if you want to make a smartphone, you have to make it round with a "smell screen""
Quote: "A general patent related to the iPad's design."

Quote: ""unlocking a device by performing gestures on an unlock image"
"
This one is kind of scary to. Seems to basicaly say, if you want to have a unlock screen, the screen can't display anything.

Allso, dosn't all operating systems have something like this
Quote: ""system and method for performing an action on a structure in computer-generated data""

For example, when we doubbleclick an image file on windows, it dosn't open the file with notepad, but with a image viewing program(most of the time )

Im glad im not in the US

EDIT:
I guess samsung have got some patents that could stop apple to...

More than once I have thought: "If I had a Nexus 7 right now I would play some games on it"

I don't think it's even out in US yet. But yeah, don't know when it will be available here in Sweden.

I would play games on it. Maybe some websurfing. Could also watch movies on it at the gym. Probably good for reading as well. Would be nice to try my game on it too.

TGC's twitter told me it's out in the US

Same reason as me then, the thing is though, that I have a galaxy note already which has a 5" screen. So paying 200$ for a nexus may be a bit overkill. I would realy like to have that tegra 3 processor though...

I see your point. I have a Galaxy S2 and the screen is barely useable for those things. Great for SMS, Facebook etc but I often wish for a bigger screen.

TGC have a few of these devices already and they rock!

I am very impressed with it. Very light and easy to hold.

With gmail, chrome, apps, video and music all easily configured it's a delight to use. While it's not as powerful as an iPad3 it's just so much more convenient. I don't feel like I'll drop it and smash it!

I have noticed some issues with AppGameKit which Paul will be looking into. Something must be different in Jelly Bean. We'll get that sorted asap.

Coming to Sweden in September. Only the 16 GB model will be available. Guess they realized that people want more storage.

And a Nexus 7 commercial from Google:

Hopefully, they said that they hope to get it to sweden in september, but due to the shortage of devices worldwide, it may be delayed.
