Well hello guys.

Was thinking about an interesting competition, last night and this morning.Most compo's allows you maximum freedom, with some limitation using stock engine, themes, map size ect.

I was thinking about a competition with a twist.Rather than have the entry build a map with his own media and scripts and goodies.

Give the entry a preset of assets to use and only those assets , map size, number of lights allowed to use ect...ect.

Was thinking about this while busy testing out some of the media I have created for the warehouse pack that I am working on.The map and warehouse is just about big enough to use as multi-player map, a good map takes about 30's seconds to go from end to end, I read that somewhere can't remember where.

The idea is basically this, for example.
For the first compo.
Supply the warehouse map pre-build.

150 stock crates entities
10 warehouse windows
10 lights and light sources
12 stock platforms sections
10 fence sections.
6 stock weapons.
12 different stock entities
4 different warehouse texture types
50 plank entities
60 frag point limit

Enough assets to make a killer MP map, and what is also nice promote the MP side of FPSC, and really push creativity with limited assets, environment, and the winner, we get to play his map online and frag him in an official event.

nice idea and easy to enter because you get all neccessarities supported. you can even do more and simply insert 1 of each usable things into the map, then its an all in one package. so i wouldnt restrict the number of each object usable, only the medias itself defined.

never build multiplayer-maps before. is it just to build the map and send back or has it to be a usable finalbuild?

Sounds like a great idea! Good way to promote the MP side of FPSC as well! What about characters? Would the entrant limited to using the stock scifi and ww2 chars or can he/she use custom chars such as TF341, etc?

Restricting the media amounts means, you have to be more creative.Adding unlimited amount of entities means, freedom, the idea and objective is to see how I can use 150 crates to use within the area, to create cover/maze ect.

The planks and crates are an ideal combo to create ramps to get to ammo on top of crates.Unlimited entities doesn't create a challenge?

It means I can plop down 500 crates without thinking, about design game play or any thing add 20 lights and 40 weapon types ?

Since we are building with media every should have already, just the map, obliviously a lot more people would also be willing to join and every one can get to test the other maps without having to download massive amounts data and of course maps made available only after the compo to be fair.

The winner just has to build his map to share.

I would be very interested in this little compo.

Would the entrants be permitted to amend textures? or are we strictly limited to media presented in the first post?

I like the idea of being limited to the amount of entities; as you said, it will really get the creative juices flowing.

what about changes in buildsetup as implementing fog? send info about setup in mail?

wich version this is based on? v119 i guess (and think that mp hasnt changed for years^^)
