Ouya is an Android based console that plugs into the TV and plays with controllers. Developing for Ouya is practically the same as for other Android devices, they take 70%. I bet there are quite a lot of people here who want to develop for PS3 or 360. This is a much cheaper alternative. I would love to code on my laptop, hit compile and play on my TV. It's only $99 for an Ouya and then you are free to develop on it. Only sad thing is that it won't be out until next year.

Already ordered mine, + extra controller.

That's 6 months.. Uh.

Though, the console itself looks amazing, but I think I am going to buy it when it's out. I must be ensured that it supports C++ development first too. (Though, while it runs on top of android, then I guess it should)

I also think that if AppGameKit is to support it, only slight changes are to be made.

Didn't know that, will take a look.
Edit: 2 posts are hardly a discussion

9 to be exact. Mar 2013 is estimated.

Yeah, contollers, payment etc. It's Android so basically everything already works.

D-pad, dual analogs, buttons, triggers and a touchpad. Not so sure AppGameKit (T1) can handle all of those.

Perhaps it's nothing hard to add that if TGC would decide to.. But I doubt they will, until they have less things to worry about

If you work in T2 Ouya will supply the necessary sdk for the joystick buttons so you won't need to depend on TGC

We are talking March 2013 at the earliest here. After 3D has likely been added to AGK. And it's not like reinventing the wheel here as it's Android. Same hardware as a top of the line phone or tablet. Getting some kind of console support to AppGameKit would make it more attractive to developers. Combine that with 3D and you can do pretty much anything.

@ Digital Awakening

I like the OUYA, did you pledge the basic $99 or do you add the $20 ?. I dont quite understand how the 'pledge' system works for overseas customers.
Does the $99 pledge just guarantee an OUYA at launch or does it actually pay for it as well ?

Tone Dialer, pay $99 + $20 and they will send you one of the first Ouyas when it's out. Very simple.

I pledged $149. As the description of the $99 tier says +$20 for international shipping and +$30 for a 2nd controller. They won't ship it outside US for $99. Your shipping address is filled in when you register/pay.

Hopefully tgc supports this. It would be great to be able to use agk to develop games for the OUYA. I don't think much would have to be changed considering agk can already output Android apps.
