We will be out for about two weeks. I see that a whole lot of people here are in the UK. We are going to focus our time in London, Normandy, and Paris.

But it would be neat to meet up with people with common interests IRL. I see a lot of people into DBPro from the UK.

Anyone want to plan to meet up one night for drinking and talking about DBPro at a pub, in London, say late September?

Bah, I'm not that far from Liverpool and London is like a million miles away...

You could try Geek Culture as well. I'd be up for it if I was near London - it's a million miles away from me too.

London isn't a very central spot, but it's a great tourist attraction and I sometimes go down there when there's a band playing I want to see.

I know there's some members closer than others. For example, I live in a town in Cambridgeshire, which is about 45mins on the train from Kings Cross. Not sure if I'd be available, but I know some folks like the idea of meeting up for a convention, but this would kinda be the next best thing. Might as well pop the question in Geek Culture and see what folk say.

Also, Gandalf, do they even have trains in Cornwall? Aren't you guys like a million miles away from civilization?

We do have trains but the nearest is a 45 minute drive away.

No, Devon isn't that far away from Cornwall.

I'm thinking that UK is a bit like the states all compressed using a rar file... he he... Which makes the distance between Liverpool and St Helens like 500 miles and a trip from here to London is like a trip from one end of the US to the other. Whoops! I can't think of city names on the opposite sides of the USA... he he

True but Devon is essentially bandit country and I believe on their cream teas they put the clotted cream on first and then the jam.

@ GregA

I go to London quite a bit and recommend the following:

The British Museum
Imperial War Museum
Tate Modern (but only if there's something good in the turbine hall, it's been a bit rubbish lately)
National Portrait Gallery (if nothing else it gives a pretty decent history of English, Scottish and British Monarchs).

They're all free entry so it's worth having a look. In fact quite a few of a the big musuems and galleries have free entry. Apparently it's one the things that the tourists like.

You have to have fish and chips but try to find a proper fish and chip place and not a pub. Also, I recommend having rock (which I believe is a type of dog fish) as I think it's nicer than cod, it has a stronger flavour, but not everywhere has it. If they have rock, I take it as a sign that's it's a decent place to have eat.

Have a pint Of Fuller's London Pride, if I can remember any good pubs I'll let you know. Ooh, there's a pretty good one in the Hays Galleria opposite HMS Belfast (not a million miles from Tower Bridge). There are plenty of pubs and bars and restaurants in that area anyway.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy your visit to Europe.
