I have an image showing a textured "sphere" without any effect. And the other side showing what I would like to have as an effect.

Normally I would use a textured cube that would always point at the camera to simulate the constant "glare" of the sun/star. But I would like to use that simple effect shader on the planet I am using as the main focus for the game.

The only other things I need is for the shader to produce a full sky of color when the player is close to the planet. No night-side fading is nessesary.

Also, I would like to know if it's possible to adjust the color of the planet glare shader from within the running program as I would like on-the-fly.

I know that this will mean one separate shader for the star, and other for the planet. That is ok.

Here's the image of what I hope to achieve...

I was hoping that someone would have something like this already pre-made. I guess not......I am just going to have to pay someone to do it when my project is ready for it and I have the extra money.

anyways.....thanks for reading-

Actually when the player is close to the planet, he will look at a plain not sphere. So as soon as the player reaches the planet atmosphere, texture the cube with sky. At the time of breaking the earth atmosphere you may need some sort of shaders. Use screen effect functions. You have some effects embedded in your dB pro files.

The Thing is, instead of implementing all kinds of "tricks" to give the atmosphere effect, I'm sure someone out there has a simple .fx shader that does exactly what I want and need.

My request isn't that far fetched. Even you said at some point shaders will have to be used anyway to complete the "look".

I suppose if I had an extra $200(I'd do it through pay-pal of course), someone would pop-up in a heartbeat after I posted this and offer their talent and shader skill.

You don't have to pay. Many people in the forum are happy to do it for free. Sorry I don't have much time this week. You have cumquat, chris Tate , fallout, the comet and many others are cool with this things. Where are you guys?.

I don't need the shader "right now". I can wait. Just wanting to know if someone could easily make, or had something already cooked up and could be tweaked is all.

Again guys, no rush intended
