Just can't figure this out at all. My computer is more than capable of playing games from 2005-2010 at maxed settings, but for some reason not FPSC.

Using Model Pack 36 I made a relatively small city with only 3 streets and buildings surrounding the streets / sidewalks. Everything was running pretty fine for the most part without any dynamic entities at about 40-50 FPS, but as soon as I add just 1 enemy the FPS drops by about 20, which is now 30 FPS. If I dare add one or two more enemies it drops to about 10 and is unplayable at this point.

My question is why??? FPS Creator is a neat program, but what's an FPS when you can only have 2 enemies on each level? (This is FPSC x9 BTW.)

I also tried to change the texture settings to the lowest which didn't seem to make any difference at all, infact the textures still look exactly the same! Lighting is set to render quickly, but that doesn't make a difference either. It lags heavily even when the game is built and the editor is closed.

My models are model packs one and four from this site, so I know it isn't my PC or the models.

Are there any unofficial patches or fixes that can fix up the lagging? FPSC has outdated graphics, just can't see why everything would run at such a terrible FPS rate.

make sure FPSC is upgraded to the newest update, and 2005 games at maxed settings isn't saying much. I mean, I can barely run FPSC perfectly on a machine that can run maxed games from 2 years in the future

FPSC is NOT powerful.

There are some mods that work with speed. I think project blue and Lew mod were pushing for better speeds.

Also as asked above,

IT could be your PC, but it could also be that it souds like your building a outdoor level which are notorius for fps drop. Another thing to consider is what AI script your running with the character? A script alone with one character shouldn't account for a fps drop of that much.

Have you tried another character? To see if you get the same drop.

When you place the character do have a long line of sight? Another words is the scene like a long alley or street. The more the computer has to render at one time the more fps it uses.

Some things to try:

Try another character

If character is using a complex AI script. Change the main to something simple like snipe and see if you have the same perfomance drop.

Reevaluate the layout of your level. Try and use walls and the like to block "long views" a good rule of thumb is corners are good and long straight aways are not so good.

In addition use invisible wall and ceiling segments on outdoor levels or wherever you can by doing this your making the engine think that your in a lot smaller area than the scen actually suggests play. i.e if you design say an alley way thats two layers high, use an invisible roof segment to make the engine think that area of the map is only one layer high.

Use billboards for things or areas that the player will never get to. Using 20 tree entities to make a forrest like back round uses way more fps than a billboard of a forrest of trees.

Get the 119 upgrade this comes with many features of the Wasp mod, which IMO is probably the best in increasing fps in most machines.

One more thing after rereading your post. To change a characters texture you need to change the texture path in it's fpe
