The reason I'm asking is that I get this error:
Unable to locate component.
This application has failed to start because d3dx9_43.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

I'm thinking the d3dx9_43.dll refers to a direct x component; is that correct?

Yep. DirectX 9 was the answer.

I've had this computer for well over 3 years and in all that time I've never had DirectX installed. Wow.

Well, I guess that shouldn't surprise me since I have stop playing PC games in favor of console gaming.

Hmmm. Still hard to believe that I haven't ran into anything that didn't require DirectX until now.

You do have DirectX installed. Lots of sub-systems use it.

Open a cmd box and type dxdiag

Really! Well. Maybe so.

All I know is that the component could not be found until I installed DirectX 9c.

Maybe it just needed to updated.

And of course you could have more than one version of directx installed. Users of DBPro and DBPro programs must have that specific DX9 version installed for the programs to work, even if they already have DX10, or whatever installed.

Because the base DLLs for DBPro rely on a specific set of DX9.0c DLLs and libraries. The DirectX 10+ DLLs and libraries are not compatible with programs that are dependent on DX9.0c DLLs and libraries.
