Hello fellow droids!

While trying to figure out what to get to replace my dead Vizio, discussion indicated that it might be good to get a list of devices that work with AGK.

So, please post your results with your Android device and AppGameKit and please include the following:
1. Your AppGameKit version
2. Brand and Model of your Android device(s)
3. Android version on your device(s)
4. Have you been able to directly connect with Eclipse to install/test apps on your device?
5. Which Tiers you use (1 and/or 2)
6. And any comments about your experiences

I got a samsung galaxy note, so far I have not had any problems with it and AGK. I can directly install and test apps from eclipse, both with android 2.3.3, 2.3.6 and 4.0.4. I havn't tried tier 2 but T1 works just fine.

It's an awesome device that I highly recommend if you don't care about it being 5"

Will connect to Eclipse - but it's less messy to use pen-drive or DropBox (that's just me - but Eclipse gets confused sometimes

This the devices I use.

5. Which Tiers you use (1 and/or 2) tier 1 only. that why i like using TGC, easy in basic.

6. And any comments about your experiences:
i cant find out on the net or not doing a good sreach of what kind of graphic surport it is, not sure if its terga 2 or terga3 or no terga at all. so far had no problems using with agk player or any apk files i dl from other tgc members or mine apk.

I think it's no tegra at all, looking at Nvidias website, there are no samsung tablets with tegra processors

I just got my Nexus 7 yesterday!

I also suspect (and expect to prove when my Toshiba tablet arrives) that my Windows/Eclipse setup is hosed somehow. Eclipse won't recognize any Android device attached via USB.

But, I used Eclipse to build the apk file and made a download site on my local computer and was able to install stuff on my Nexus 7 just fine.

I used an orientation test program and it showed the same results as when I run it on my iPad. Orientation 3 is when the top of the device is rotated to the LEFT (the camera is on the left) and orientation 4 is when it is rotated RIGHT.

But, my WIP game worked fine and was stable in one orientation (it did not flip during the game). It uses both types of edit inputs and both worked fine.

6. Apart from the laborious process of setting up for compile, not too bad. Once it's set up things are a little easier. For some reason eclipse will not recognise my phone, even with the google drivers installed. I just copy it manually and install via USB or when testing simply use the broadcast feature.

I wonder if TGC got it working. They did mention having some issues with Nexus 7, or perhaps Jellybean. You don't happen to know what that was/is?

Did you install a USB driver for the phone/tablet? I had to do that for my ZTPad.

in daniels tutorial video...he mention and show that you have to change some setting in your android setting,,,,

in device options make sure you have USB debugging check...

also in scurity/ click unknown soruces ; allowing for installation on non market apps

As others have said you need to enable USB debugging, and installs from unknown sources to get eclipse testing working...

@Digital Awakening, Jellybean is the name of the OS used by Nexus 7, Android 4.1.

@JimHawkins, Windows recognizes it fine and opens the external drive file navigator.

@leo877 and The Zoq2, those were the first thing I did once my Nexus 7 was set up.

Eclipse used to recognize my husbands Android (Vizio VTAB1080) and then stopped. So, the issue is with my Windows somehow. One computer never saw any device, the other stopped (I have a 'work' PC and a 'home' PC, plus the travel laptop, the Mac box and my Linux box, and my hubby has a bunch of machines as well).

Since I have my computers set up as web servers (for testing and development and personal use), I just made a simple download page on one of the domains and copied the built apks there. It works.

The Toshiba Thrive 7" just arrived. Android version 3.2.1.

It actually comes with a file manager app!

I just ran my orientation test. And it reports the opposite of all other portable devices. Held in default position (with dock/power connector on the bottom), it reports orientation 2 instead of 1!

But my WIP game played fine (the Tier 1 version), including connecting to the internet.

I installed my freshly built Android player and broadcast to it (yup, I got broadcast working!) and it was fine.

So, this is a very good tablet (w/32GB, micro-sd and mini-usb).

I did not connect it to Eclipse yet (my Eclipse won't see any tablets now).

another thing that happens to me when i hook my tablet with usb (that came with) to my computer. the computer recoginse as a media device.

something called (MTP) here a link that it has on it for more info. http://www.android.com/filetransfer

Yeah I know. But in the Nexus 7 thread it was mentioned that there was some problem for TGC using AppGameKit with the Nexus 7. Most likely it was a problem with the OS not the tablet. Was wondering if you knew anything about that.

@leo877, my PC recognizes both of my tablets as media devices. The issue is between Eclipse and the tablets. As I said, I'm not worried about it. I have at least two methods to get the apks onto my tablets, so Eclipse not doing it is no longer an issue.

Most tablets have this feature enabled. MTP is a bit slow in file transfer I've noticed, however it gives you the advantage of having the tablet still have the SD card mounted ( it can see it and use it ) as well as Windows can access it. Before MTP if you wanted to access your SD card through your phone, it had to dismount the device and windows mounted it as a standard USB drive. This feature doesn't get in the way of development in any way.

Side note: Be sure to go to the developer settings and enabled USB debugging which allows the deployment of unsigned apks directly to the device ( and remote startup ).

@Ancient Lady I'm curious to know which version of Eclipse are you using? I know the issue isn't really an issue for you, but none the less I am interested in figuring it out lol.
One solution you could try is uninstall your device drivers from windows ( if Vista/Win7 be sure to check the option that physically deletes the driver and not just disable it which forces windows to redownload it ). You've probably already done this so my second EZ-fix would be to use the newest version of Eclipse IDE for Java Developers ( Juno v4.2 ). Be sure your JDT, AndroidSDK, etc. are all fully up to date. If none of that works I can look deeper into it.

@victordavion, I'm using Eclipse Indigo (3.7.2). Since I can 'see' my devices as external thingies (thingum or thingummy is the root word for thingy and can be found in the Oxford English Dictionary), it is clearly something with Eclipse.

I tend to keep things up to date. But you might be right that a newer version of Eclipse might see my devices. I might try this later on, right now I have a method that works with my new devices (and I really love my Toshiba Thrive 7" tablet).

I greatly appreciate everyone's attempts to help me. I really do (and this is probably my last post for the night, I'm on my second glass of a very nice Proseco and I'm not allowed to phone or IM when drinking, and I assume that forum posting falls into that category).

Hey all.

I don't use tables, I have a Samsung galaxy s3 running android 4.1, latest version of agk, and beta player. The player is..... Sporadic, often returning two errors however I've spoken to some very nice tgc bods and they think they know the issue for future fixing. As for the agk, built my app through eclipse, tier 1 no problem at all, however android 4.1 has some issues. Two so far, looping music locks the device after its first play - I isolated this down to I think the same bug dbpro had - syncing. If you check for music playing, then play another track when the last stops, if you don't sync first it dies. The other is setfolder, which doesn't appear to work, yet oddly the easier setdirectory command does.

Overall, the phone doesn't have a problem running the software. My app has 12 sprites, one as background, title, 10 moving and gets 40fps...However this seems to be the standard update that a blank screen gives, so I'd say zero slowdown.

Oh, and yes eclipse connected to it and plays through it no problem so long as you install Samsung kies for the debug driver first.

I got a asus transformer pad TF300t, it works great with AppGameKit, apart from the weird broadcast thing, which for some reason crashes my internet. Other than that it works great and I have managed to compile with eclipse on it.
