I recently re-installed my OS and curiosity got the best of me because I was having problems with FPSC a while back. So I re-installed FPSC up to 1.18 and now everything as far as FPSC goes, is working great.

The only thing that is different this time is that I have not installed AMD Catalyst, just the drivers that Windows Update provides.

So, how many of you are running AMD Catalyst and FPSC successfully together? How many of you are running AMD Catalyst and also having problems with FPSC?

We (my wife and I) run AMD Catalyst on both our laptops and FPSC together with no issues. Our desktop also runs both with no issues.

@BlackFox,

What version of FPSC? I think I remember you saying before that you only use 1.17?

What cards are you running?

We mainly develop in v1.17, but we do run v1.18 and v1.19 for testing our media when developing packs, etc on the desktop. The laptops are running v1.17 only.

Both laptops have the AMD Radeon HD 6310, and the desktop runs the AMD Radeon 6450.

Hmm, well I do know that the problem I was having before wasn't isolated to FPSC. I was having the same problems while playing Blacklight.

Randomly some triangles would go transparent.
As seen here.

This was with 1.19 though, but like I said I was having the same issue playing Blacklight.

My card is the 4550, I suppose I am just going to stay away from the Catalyst for now and see if the problem comes back again.

We had a Radeon 4650 before in the desktop and everything was fine until one of the Catalyst updates when we experienced a similar issue you outlined. There were times when it was very frustrating and we cursed ourselves for leaving the days of DOS/Win 3.1 We ended up reverting back to an older version of Catalyst until we bought this newer card and have never had any problems since (including any Catalyst updates that have occurred since the card purchase).

I don't!

I'm familiar with this, but I'm still learning!

Thanks for your feedback BlackFox.

It has been a few days and no problems, not even with BlackLight. So I am going to just stay away from Catalyst until I stop being a cheap sob and upgrade my GPU

I imagine one day we will reach this point again and have to buy a new card when we suddenly have issues with Catalyst. Too bad too, our old card was really good.
