Hi

Just tring to create a simple level.

Outside level

I added ground segment to level 0

But, the ground is still floating compared with the skybox. I thought
level 0 is on the same ground level as the skybox?

Hello fhalo,

This is because the FPSC hasn't an infinite plane, I mean the plane where the game takes place is finite, so you should put some sort of fence or barrier (called game fencing) to prevent the player goes too close to the edge of the game level, because this would destroy the magic of the virtual world, you have created and would ruin the game play.

Cheers,

Northern

Even if you "managed" to get to the ground ground . It is very barren and void of life, as you can see in the lovely pic I made while visiting there. Perfect spot to building a game on .

Joke aside, like northern said you can't actually visit the actual bottom, but you can make it look like you are there with a few tricks.

I don't even see why you would want to do that, the texture on the bottom is usually low-res and looks different compared to the rest of your game.

Hi All

THat is is why I'm puzzed.

I'm hoping to design my own skybox. If the high of the skybox is not corrent, it can make the scene look out of place.

So, the objective is to make the gorund match the skybox?

All I was showing is that it can be done with a few tricks up the sleeve (minus many of the tricks needed).

The alternative is to create a skybox entity or segement to place in the level.

Hi Gammer X
I can see that may work.

Then the skybox entity/segement will have the same ground level, same texture etc.

Therefore, outside scene will look great.

Have anyone done this?

Any screenshot?

Personally, I don't rely on skyboxes in outdoor levels. I block out the ends of the level with walls so you can't see the bottom.
