I need desperate some free trees for my project and I found a free tree generator "tree[d]" on the web. Does anyone have some experience with this software and maybe can provide me with a short code how to import those trees into DB pro. Somehow I can't see them when I load and position them as objects and there is also no error code. I think I'm missing something.

It seems to me that frecle.net is open. I had no problem to download this program and run it.http://www.frecle.net/index.php?show=treed.abouthttp://. I export the trees in.X format. But I have problems to make them visible and work.

Treed can't export in 3ds nor in x, so you have to change the format. I import them in wings3d and then export again. If they have problems with the textures, and this is happening to me, you simply need to load the textures and apply them again, they will be ok.

.x export only works if you dont use any branches as they are always positioned at the base of the trunk, images as always with dbp need to be in same folder to auto load
..but Numisi method does sound better if that works

I remember using treed some time ago, back then you had to open the trees up in giles(also made by frecle) and export them from there.

I have to look deeper into this. I think these trees are a bit heavy on the Poly counts. Maybe it's just better and easier to get TreeMagic or Tree Party after all. Which of those programs is the better choice? Did anyone use both of them before? I only can afford to have one. Thanks for all the input.

In my opinion I would buy TreeIT from evolved's site best trees I have worked with yet.

Is it a good tree editor? I'm using tree[d] for my game, but the trees are heavy and the leaves don't look very good, the planes fade form some directions, so the tree seems a bit bare... It would be good to find another freeware more apt to this.

I Downloaded TreeIT and it looks great. I haven't bought the key, yet, so I can't really see how they look after you export them into DB pro. Are these trees also animated when you export it into DBO format and if yes, is there a way to reduce the annimation? Can those objects be used for collision detection too?

yes, they are animated. The animation is done through a shader so export format doesn't matter

Quote: "is there a way to reduce the annimation?"

you can tweak some variables inside the shader

Quote: "Can those objects be used for collision detection too? "

yes

This demo TreeIT only has a very limited amount of different tree leafs but enough barks and no options for roots. But the trees look somehow better than with TreeMagic. Can you add some more different leaf textures?
