Quote: "Just wanted to chime in my opinion regards recent "multi-platform" trend. Honestly I start steaming when I hear people suggesting DB Pro/Elite should support multiple platforms. I understand it's desirable but the truth is I have dozens of friends who are avid MAC users and they never ever play games on OSX. So why bother supporting 1-2% of Linux users and 7-8% of Mac users when majority of them will cop an Xbox or PlayStation for their gaming needs. So to say majority of "real" gaming is still done on Windows platform. Now I don't talk about that glittery casual gaming crap, go get AppGameKit and code away with that if it's your aim. "
Olby for FORUM ORACLE!!!
I love you for saying this man!!! I am so glad there is another on here sharing the exact same view as me!!!
There is considerable pointless painstaking time needed to support multi platforms... and Linux is no simple feat... there are a huge variant number of them and having to set it up to just test out is pointless waste of time when you could be dealing with your marketing strategy... and frankly iPhone is doing funny recently and Android is just so fragmented now, you release a single game and immediately you could alienate over half the market just because they do not support your OS requirements... YES there are millions of them out there, YES they all have the same NAME on the OS, NO they do not all have the same EDITION of the OS.
I am happy to resume Windows Programming whilst ignoring other not so serious OSs...
Until they can come out of the less than 8% zone of market share
I do not consider them 'serious enough' to develop for... and fair enough arguing half of that 90+% share is business, that still leave the remainder under 8% and Windows at over 40%... come one drop it... if you want to multi develop then use AGK/AGK 3D, leave DBPro the hell alone... i want my dedicated Windows Tool!
'sigh'
Who wants cake?
EDIT
Typo... when will that function for the forum be made >.< maybe I should make it and submit it for consideration ^^
