Title says pretty much that. I would buy Milkshape, but I don't really trust the website with my money or credit card.

you are not gonna find any free programs out there like Milkshape just because Milkshape has so many exporters.

i've paid for milkshape 3d and fragmotion and had no problems. they are both fine sites.

if you want you could try misfit model 3d. it's free.

Fragmotion is actually free now. You could also try truespace which you can setup to look like milkshape, and it features a few items it doesn't.

I'd try a few programs, maybe check out Blender and Wings 3d. It all depends on what your comfortable with.

Blender.

All browsers should come with compulsory spell checks.

Actually, it is. You have to type in the lord's prayer every week though to keep it free.

Yes, Fragmotion has been free for years now, download it and it should let you just type in the prayer to use it.

All browsers should come with compulsory spell checks.

No it gives you a text to type into a box and that text is the entire lords prayer. It's a really strange way of 'selling' a product, somewhat off-putting.

All browsers should come with compulsory spell checks.

It's a good program. I bought it, so I don't have to deal with any annoyances, but I'm pretty sure you can use it forever free, it just keeps telling you to buy it.

Also, to answer the original question, there's Anim8or, though if you're running Win7 it tends to have problems.

Not the same as Milkshake, but I like it. It's pretty easy to get used to.

Wings 3d is great. Anim8or is pretty good, and the software that I have used the most. But once I tried wings 3d, I won't go back...

I use "blender". Its free and has TONS of control and export formats. http://www.blender.org/The only problem is that it has a fairly steep learning curve. If you are doing sculpting for organic models I highly recommend the free "sculptris" http://www.pixologic.com/sculptris/ Hope this helped!

I would also recommend Blender. But it's pretty darn hard to use. When you actually get the hang of it, however, it's very, very, very good.

the most powerful free program out there right now is blender in my opinion, but if you want a program with some REAL power goto autodesks student community website and make an account so you can download the free student version of 3ds max or maya.

You need to type a very long prayer in box to use 7 day trial of Fragmotion.

I have Blender but after 3-4 years of Blender now I am deeply theory locked.

It would take a gargantuan act of choice and free will on my part to change programs at this point. I would probably have to do something like take a class at a local CC to make the jump to Max or Maya.

Also, as far as I can tell no other program has the very excellent game maker/prototyper thing that Blender has in it, which I use all the time.

Having said that Blender has all the upsides and downsides of every open source package ever made.
