Not really sure where to put this post, but I guess here will do

I have been looking a little at the RPG mod thread. How is this mod? Anyone that is using it and can tell me a little about it? What type of RPG's can you make with it and so,,,,

Maybe you have created a full game with it, or know of a game made with it then I'd be glad if you could point me to where I can get it, for free or not. A full game that is created with this would work as a good 'showcase' of the mods features and such.

Best regards!

Out of all the mods, we found RPG Mod to be one of the best out there. It opened a lot of doors in developments for us, and even helped to make some good money with the end products. The key features it contains helped to eliminate "workarounds" to certain ideas we needed to achieve. We have completed many "choose your own adventure" style games in the fantasy, sci-fi, adventure, and puzzle genre. We even used RPG Mod to demonstrate "safety in the workplace" and "first aid".

Unfortunately, we cannot link or provide you with said links or titles to what we have made, as they were made for private clients (schools, companies). What we can tell you is that clients really enjoyed the "extras" that RPG Mod provided in the games.

One thing I must stress about RPG Mod. It is not a "plug-and-play" mod. We started with it in version 2 and used it right up to version 4. It requires the developer to have a good grasp of scripting, as RPG Mod uses key files for its setup that the developer needs to script. If you have time and patience, and can grasp the mod, you will not be disappointed. The developers (Flatlander and Ched80) are very happy to assist anyone having issues.

Hi mnemonic

I agree wholeheartedly with with everything Blackfox says in his post.

RPG_Mod has been my mod of choice for the last two years as I develop educational games. It has the following features:

Clues system
Quest system
Immediate Objectives
Quiz system
Informational Documents
Talkboxes
Talkboxes with audio
Text prompts
Question prompts
Generic selections (the player has multiple options when talking with an NPC)

In Flatlander, (original developer) and Ched 80 (current developer), you have two of the most responsive, responsible, all-round-great-guys to assist you.

Regards

That sounds very good,, to hear that it is well supported.

Thank you for your posts! I'm writing a little on a design document for an RPG. As I could write a custom engine, I feel that perhaps RPG mod has all the features that I need, if that is so,, it would feel like 'reinventing the wheel' if I'd code it myself. Thats what I like about engines like FPSC, unity, cryengine and such. The engine's already made and all you have to focus on is the game play and design!

After all,, we all wants to make games and that's what's important. The rechnology and methods that you use to make it are less important.

I just saw this thread. Thanks Blackfox and Elbow for all the kind words.

mnemonic, it wouldn't hurt to try it out. It will cost you nothing except for some time.

Also, I've not been as active currently and letting Ched80 bare most of the support burden. He has a lot on his plate and sometimes it might take a little while for him to respond but he will eventually respond.
