Hi, I have a problem with lag when I build game. Testing games within FPSC X9 is fine and no problems at all. You would expect it to be the other way round :S

I have even made a small 2 room map with a few entities and weapons.

Build game with lowest light mapping and lowest texture settings and its the same as it would be with high settings.

My computer spec is

Windows 7
Quad Core AMD Bulldozer Processor
8GB DDR3 Ram

Standard Graphics Card (Although I must add, I can play Unreal Engine 3 and Valve/Source multiplayer games online with no problems at all)

Any ideas? Thank you in advanced.

Can you post some screen shots? Press your [ or ] buttons to see the wire frame and portals and look for poly leaks. Also, what do you mean standard video card? Intel GMA's? 512 or 1 gig dedicated?

check to see if your 'buildsetup' and 'setup' files are the same. One controls how much resources your testing will use and the other will create what the final build uses. hope that helps

Hi, thanks for replies.

I pressed [ or ] in game and also in the editor but it doesn't do anything?

Also I really don't know about the graphics card I would guess 512mb dedicated but its fine within editor when I test games.

The 'buildsetup' and 'setup' files are only slightly different,

buildsetup - dividetexturesize=16
setup - dividetexturesize=2

I changed the 2 to a 16 and the 16 to a 2 but no difference.

What version of FPSC are you using?

I suggest upgrading to 1.19

Oh come on. We're trying to talk with sigs here and you rudely interrupt.

Sorry I should have been more specific. You need to press the [] keys while running the test game. You should then see a "wireframe" mode and see what the engine is rendering and when. When the engine has to to render too many things that are not visible it can seem to slow down what is. You want to use it to look to see if you need to add a wall here or a door there to adjust the "portals". Another good use is if you have a custom segment and it does not completely touch the floor (even by 1mm) it will cause the engine to always render what's on the other side of it (happened on my first attempt at a segment). If it's rendering outside environments that's pretty much the graphical equivalent to rendering infinity so limit the number of windows you have. If you have a "fake" door make sure to put a completely sealed segment behind it, to stop any leaks through there too.

p.s. the "wireframe" mode takes a little while to really see what is actually happening and is very common to see a performance hit. So 30 frames per second in "wireframe" could be 45 in normal.
