Is there games that actually teach DarkBASIC Programs?

It's just if new programmers are struggling with learning to program (like me) and much desire to make games (like me) what better way to learn how to make a game that through a game?

I have an idea for a game called "CODE: Monkey" named after a song by Jonathon Coulton but ironically I don't have the skills to make it.

Try TheGameCreators Youtube channel... I'm sure you'll find one or two that'll get you started...

Mental arithmetic? Me? (That's for computers) I can't subtract a fart from a plate of beans!

Lo WLGfx... where be thou ^^ get online!

Interesting but I think Mystic Monkey means something being an interactive form instead of typical PDF, Book, WebPage, Video... everything on the same screen as and when you learn them...

While CODE: Monkey is about a single monkey trying to escape a corperate tower, many othe rmonkeys can join him.

CODE: Monkey is about this evil corperate tower owned by a villain who believes in the infinite monkey theorem, only instead of monkeys with type-writters he has enslaved many intelligent monkeys and given them all durable portable computers called "slaptops" which monkeys use to program with COMPLEX.

One special monkey hates programming with COMPLEX as his codes not function or eligent. However deep in the tower he finds a pyramid shaped chamber decorated with a "db" design and within it his slaptop is changed to house "DarkBASIC Pro" instead of COMPLEX.
He awakens a 16-bit graphic fairy called Pixie who helps the code monkey to escape the tower by teaching him how to write the programs he needs to overcome challenges.

Let's say there was a locked door with a circular hole and the door requires a virtual sphere to open. Pixie will instruct the player how to make a sphere.

and the player will write out what Pixie says (with her telling the details and why it works), The sphere will then be created which monkey can open the door with.

Another example is that scattered around the tower are floppy disks that hold ".obj" and ".pic" files and can oonly make them actual items if he virtualise them with DarkBASIC Pro.

Once the player learns how to do basic stuff and move onto advance stuff, the monkey make programs to use to fight minions and eventually the final boss who slaves the monkeys.

Other NPC monkeys who discover and begin to use DarkBASIC Pro will give the player handy tips and ways to advice to coding as well as remembering codes.

Interesting Idea. What might be better is a Open source project where everyone can chip in and add a section here and there and improve on it till you have your complete game.

That way you get the actual hands on experience of programming.

A game that teaches programming. Don't know how effective that would be if tutorials are not even helping. Really if a person cant follow the tutorials... sorry to say but maybe the person isn't cut out for it. Programming isn't easy, even with the simple stuff also why there are so few of us.

Anyways If I was to make an game that learns the user to program it'll be... on second thought I disagree with this whole idea. The best way to learn something is to already be doing it and learn by example.

Mind I refer you to helpful resources that helped me a great deal when I first starting.

And like Portal or Team Fortress 2, maybe the community can contribute maps and test courses to further teach new things.

Isn't that where I am going with this? A tutorial can provide the information you need but if you can't follow it, maybe it's because the tutorial is not as clear on the matter or perhaps with so many tutorials where can one start that they can keep up with?
In my other thread on DBPro Newcomers, I said I would find it more easier to learn something difficult if I had someone directly teaching me than following tutorials. this is what I sort of have in mind for CODE: Monkey where a tutorial can be taught in more creative and easier ways.
