Alright i've made posts about this problem since December and FPSC is still getting errors when it "checks files" when it opens. The program works on my Windows 7 Acer "Craptop" but it will not work on my nice desktop. Another odd thing is that FPSC will work on versions including V1.16 and below. There must be something in V1.17 and above that is messing with my computer (i need V119 for all the goodies also!)! Pictures of the Errors are in the attachment on the post!

System Specs:
Computer: HP Workstation XW6200
System OS:Windows XP Professional SP3 32Bit
Processor: Intel Xeon 2.8 GHZ (or 2.4 GHZ depending on day?)
RAM: 4 GB DDR3
*tell me if i need to add anything

Thank you to whoever helps me out. I really want to return to game DEV!

GPU?

I had a similar problem with a laptop I had once, it turned out to be the on board GPU. If I remember right I was only able to run 1.16 on it.. or was it 1.17..

Either way, as long as your OS is up to date and you have the right directX installed, the only other thing I would know of to cause an issue would be the GPU.

updated gpu-drivers? turned off windows-UAC? installed and running as admin? installed in the right place (c:/programs(x86)/...)?

i bet on the UAC.^^

in addition: righclick C: and clean temp-folder, then restart machine and try again.

How do you access the UAC on Windows XP?

Being as though you are running an ATI card do you have AMD Catalyst installed?

If so, uninstall and try to find just the standard drivers.
I have a couple issues when I am running the Catalyst utilities and found that if I am just running the standard drivers the problems go away.

If you are really bent on moving up past 1.17, which I don't blame you.

As a last resort give your system a fresh start again re-install OS, drivers, DirectX and then install FPSC + the version upgrade you want to use. This could eliminate any oddities you may have on your computer. If it still doesn't work it just means your hardware simple isn't compatible.

I would try all other alternatives before doing this though.

Not putting my full blame on this. But this is a server CPU and is based on a slightly different architecture. I heard people getting issues with some games and other software due to these CPUs.

I don't think that's the problem, as That Guy John posted:

Other than that. I don't know what else can be done. Try removing FPSC, and delete the folder as well. Then clean it completely from registry...

Good Luck...

For drivers, always start your search at the manufactures website.

Glad to see it's finally working for you. Try installing V119 if you feel it's ready for the task.

Good luck...
