how do I do this effect: when the player steps in a trigger zone, water appears, but when he looks away for about 4-6 seconds the water vanishes, a little help on how to do that?

Hey kill,

Don't think you can trigger the water to vanish just by looking away. There has to be a trigger that causes the water to vanish. You could write a script that would make the water appear, then in the script trigger something to appear behind the player so he has to turn around, maybe a simple enemy that he has to deal with,
then you could add the water disappear script.

intelligent object placing in the edges of the room near ceiling (maybe invisible objects) so you can write the command with inview=1, maybe a workaround. basically the same what troutflies said. room has to be the right proportion to get this done correctly, but should be possible.
