Xcept is quite exceptional!

And now we know his real name, since it is listed on the winners page.

As I said in the showcase, it is way cool that the gaming category was one by an app done with AGK. This should be posted somewhere in the advertising on the AppGameKit site.

Cheers,

I think this takes the bounty up to $32,000!

14 Ultrabooks @ $1,000
$8,000 from the "first 50" rewards
$10,000 for Xcept

Where is the winners page.

Has the big prize been announced? Or is Xcept still in with a chance of $20000?

There is a link to the winner's page in this post.

Xcept did not get the grand prize. It went to some education based app (how boring is that?).

He won for best in breed - Gaming.

Want to win another Ultrabook (of your choice) or maybe $100 cash?

Follow up article competition from CodeProject:
http://www.codeproject.com/competitions/611/Ultrabook-Article-competition

My favourite quote from the rules:
Quote: "Bribes to the judges are welcome but will not affect the outcome of the competition."

Thanks for the heads up baxslash, it's probably not something I will enter unless I think I have something really helpful to say, I will need to have a think

Has anyone been paid yet from the ultrabook compo? And how do they pay us?

This week payments are expected to be made at least for the first 50 $1,000 winners. Not sure of the method, a lot of people had said PayPal initially.

Thanks xCept. PayPal would make sense since that is how we get paid when we sell our apps on the AppUp store.

I've also just received an email saying that Intel are going to promote all the apps entered, and also send our details on to Chillingo (if we wish) for them to take a look, that could be a decent amount of free marketing!

I just got that one too.

I wonder how many games they'll actually follow up on. Would be great to get some AppGameKit apps published by a well known publisher.

I got that email too.

I also had an offer to include my game in an 'App Pack' that goes out to people in the industry, they wanted 2500 free licenses too.

I agreed, but by the time I made the video/website and all the media I missed the deadline by a few hours

I have learnt from that mistake and realise that creating promotion material is just as important as creating the game

I also got this email but dont know if i will use it due to time shortage
I have no time to comit to any jobs or anything after my fulltime jobb

I love to do the apps but not much time for the other work of publishing and follow upp published apps.

i just put some money back in to agk development and ordered another book about opengl es shaders
OpenGL ES 2.0 Programming Guide By Aaftab Munshi
Its supposed to be an shaders holy bible for ios/android shaders.

Agk 3d rests heavy on shader know how and we cant put all our wishes to the tgc team to add everything.

Especially when ios and android shaders are uber sensetive and performance hungry.

Hey guys, I'm wondering if you could help me out..

I won an Ultrabook in this competition but I recently formatted the computer and I'm not sure how I can get back to Windows 8 Pro since the laptop came with it pre-installed rather than with an actual disc. If anyone knows how I can instal an register Windows 8 again I'd be very grateful, thanks in advance!

Intel didn't provide any recovery images aside from the USB stick that I'm aware of. I also read that all of the supplied drivers to provide support for the numerous sensors are only be compatible with either the specialized Windows 8 Trial or the Windows 8 developer edition through MSDN (not the retail professional version) but that may no longer be accurate. I was lucky enough to snag a $15 copy of Windows 8 Pro (the special upgrade price) but haven't tried reinstalling yet.

Thanks for the reply xCept. This is quite unfortunate, and Intel don't seem to have very good support on their website. I may buy the developer version for the discounted price as I saw it there on their website, if I can't get it free that is.

Try to use an unformat utility to get the original windows back. No need to reformat windows 8, just go into system settings, and select that you want to refresh windows, and it makes an automated reinstall of the whole system.
