Okay so I've spent many hours already working on a project that I stopped and took a couple month break on.

Same computer, same files... Nothing has changed.

But now when I load up DB pro and try to open my project file as I always used to.. I get this error..

Could not find the main include file, the path stored in the include file is invalid or missing. You will need to add the file manually.

Ugh. So now somehow magically I have lost all of my work so it seems. DarkBasic Pro has been nothing but utter frustration. Never had these problems with DB Classic. ..Never had problems building self containing executables with DB Classic. Db Pro on the other hand seems to refuse to want to do anything the way it should.

Well can you see your .dbpro file if you navigate to it using the file manager? If so, what happens when you double click on it? Which IDE are you using?

yes I can see the .dbpro file just inside the project folder when I open it. If I double click it, a window opens saying that Windows can't open it and will search for the appropriate program that can open it.

Open the .dbpro file in notepad and check the include path and file name it has listed and whether or not it exists. There will be a section like this:
; **** source file information ****
main=3DVideo.dba

There was a code loss issue with a very very old version of the default IDE so hopefully there is no reason you'd still be using that. It happened to me once back when I was using it and I learnt the hard way to start making frequent backups (in the form of SVN as a personal choice) since then, though have never had a problem with code loss since changing IDEs many years ago.

Try double click the .dba file instead and answer yes when asked to save as dbro.

Okay, here is what I get when I open it in Notepad...

main=C:\Users\Me\AppData\Local\Temp\Untitled1.dba
final source=_Temp.dbsource

My IDE.. umm, I assume you mean the version of DarkBasicPro I am using. I downloaded the DBPro Free version right from the website in July of this year. Once installed, I also went to HELP and clicked "search for updates" as well, the program searched for updates, but said it was the most current version.

chafari, your suggestion makes absolutely no sense to me, since dbl-clicking it only opens a window saying it cannot be opened and offers to find DarkBasicPro on the web. There is nothing offering to re-save it. Besides it is already in a .dbpro format.

Thanks for trying to help however guys. So am I hosed or what? And is there some special update process I need to do to the free version of DBPro downloaded today right from the DarkBasic website.. and if so.. WHY!?!? Why would they not have the best/most current IDE available for download without requiring some special, sneaky update procedure??

That isn't a good sign... I take it that file no longer exists? If so it does look like your code will be lost. I can't think why the DBPro project would have been set up to have its code there.

IDE refers to the actual editor rather than DBPro itself. DBPro is basically a set of DLLs and a compiler. The IDE merely handles the project files, allows editing etc. The version that originally came with DBPro had issues but the newer version seems solid. I personally use CodeSurge. I haven't personally tried the free version so I'm afraid I can't comment on how solid that one is.

It does to me !!. you have something strange in your PC or laptop....I have had exactly this problem before, and when you try to open a .dba file ,if you have correctly installed your Darkbasic Pro, it should ask you what I said....hope this can be useful for someone and sorry if it doesn`t for you

Cheers.
