Hello. I have a level in one of my games where when the player spawns, 50 health is immediately taken off. (It's right when the player spawns. The red damage HUD comes on and the player is injured).

The bad thing about the mission is that it is a rather hard one. So, in order for the game to be possible, I need this to be fixed.

Also, I've tried putting a health pack underneath the player. It doesn't solve the problem at all. (More damage is taken off than healed, and the player absorbs the health before taking damage, so when the player has, let's say, 99 HP, he picks up the health, bringing him to 100, and then loses it, going down to 50).

I remember having this problem before. Is the player marker standing over stairs? If so try to move it somewhere else. Even if it's not over stairs try moving it somewhere else. If that fails, just add a health pack somewhere close to the start. Or alternatively you could make a healthzone with a script to heal only for 50 units.

Hope this helped.

Oh come on. We're trying to talk with sigs here and you rudely interrupt.

To continue on from what Dark Frager said:
This also happens when the engine spawns the player while it is lagging excessively, the physics system bugs out and pushes the player through the world geometry slightly, or right through, thus causing damage.

hmm... just make him spawn somewhere else? Maybe what Dark Fragger said was correct about having stairs???

when you place player, level him up a bit, helps me out with this.
your problem happens also when the player gets damage in the winzone of the last level (fall damage, when winzone is on a lift, player dies emediatly in the next level). you should check levels before this one if winzone is on stairs, player needs to jump big hieghts etc.

The only suggestion I've got, aside from what's been stated about moving the player:

Use some scripting to set the maximum health of the player to 150, and their current health equal to current health + 50. Then the player spawns, gets the boost in health, then takes the 50 damage. You'll then need to reset the maximum health to 100, and you'll probably want to disable the red damage HUD while this happens and then reset it to happen after this.

Not the prettiest suggestion, but it should work.
