Hello Dark Basic Professional forum!

I've decided to try DBPro and see if I could code. However, I have a question before I use DBPro for frequently. Is the 3D Game Studio any good? It looks kinda cool and easy to use but is Dark Basic Pro comparable?

Thanks!

EDIT: When I try to compile and run a simple project in Dark Basic Pro, it doesn't work and says "no icon is specified for the final exe". It has no trouble running the example projects. I have the latest version.

3D GAME STUDIO? do you mean 3D World Studio?

If you can provide us with the code you are using to compile [do not worry about the icon caution] we could probably identify the issue...

There are a few other key things that require addressing like the version of DBP, how you got it [Free / Paid] and whether you have the correct DirectX installed or not...

When you are in DBP, look at the Properties tab. The error most likely has to do with the Icon field.

Using the FPSC-Game as an example, if I have no icon specified, I receive the same error (actually if I recall it is a warning). Try to point to an actual icon file and see if that helps.

I've never used 3D Game Studio, but can remember asking myself this question 4 years ago. I chose Dark Basic because it uses the BASIC language, and have stuck with it. You need some time to get the hang of it, but once you get going you should not be disappointed. If you advance further you can create your own plugins to extend it and what ever you create.

well i do know some stuff about A8, but to get all featured langunage, u have to learn Scripting C and also buy it for about 800$
in this other hand, dbp doesnt cost that much and the languange is easyer to understand.
althought it a little bit older than A8.

I figured you were talking about that company...

I did some research and decided I would avoid them like hell fire...

I accidently found them before I found TGC when I was looking around for the game creators website... and was like... I see nothing about NVidia here... later found TheGameCreators website and was relieved but still was like... oh and A8 is a German company...

My history of German related software companies, games, software cars... has been not to my level of satisfaction... so I would say avoid...

Dark Game Studio + this forum will be all you need and look at the price difference...

However this is down to you... do you want to begin learning to code or do you just want to click and drag...

There are alternatives for the latter, and much more advanced and widespread than this A8 stuff...

Also I believe that their prices are in € not $ meaning ever more expensive...

Anyway... shoot more questions at us... we would prefer you made the decision on your own terms... most of us [Me included] will suggest stick with TGC products... only because we know the plusses and minusses of it, but we know it works... and is cheaper than anything out there... [NOTE TO SELF: stop being a natural salesman lol] so yeah just ask us as many queations as you like

I should add... if it was not for me learning DBP [BASIC] coding... I would unlikely have gotten into JavaScript, PHP, or anything beyond...

Just my experiences mentioned here... so shoot away!
