DAdata is a smal database application made as a development tool to store data needed for games or applications. I will make an export command that exports the whole or parts of the database as a text file. I will also include source that you can use to import the text file into an array in DB/DBP.

B.0.0
The data command now works on headings.
The file import.dba is now packed with DAdata.
Added command: export name

There is also a tutorial packed with this version

http://digaw.com/DAdata.zip - 378kB

This is an example of how DAdata can be used:

I think most people are just scared because

a.) They don't know what it is.
b.) They think it'll get complicated.

---------------------
This really does sound like something that will make my job easier. I'll download and give it a shot later today/tomorrow.

A book? I hate book. Book is stupid.

a) Something that can help them develope games (or apps) faster and easier.

b) If they find this complicated then they will have big problems developing bigger games (or apps). There's a tutorial included with lots of shots so anyone who wanna know more how to use DAdata just have to read it.

LLRGT is down so the image is gone. Wasn't the best image though.

The export command is now complete It was a though one but finally I managed to pull it through. Before I release the beta I will put together a function that you can use in DB/DBP to load the exported file.

This is how an exported file can look like. There will be a blank row between every main directory but this test data base only have one (Equipment). The top numbers shows the dimensions needed to load this into an array.

01--03--01--03

01 Equipment
01--01 Weapons
01--01--01 Longsword
01--01--01--01 - POW :: 10
01--01--01--02 - ATT :: 12
01--01--01--03 - SPD :: 9
01--02 Armor
01--03 Items

Edit:
Data entris now have "- " in front of them to make importing easier.

So basically, what this does is to make storing and importing information for your game, such as item types,spells, or monsters simple. Is this pretty much it? Been busy lately, so havn't had a chance to give the program a test run, sorry.

@DG, the problem is this ...

Those who know immediately what this is for, probably already have their own method, and those who don't know what it is, either don't know that they do/will need it or something like it, or don't know how they would use it.

Add a few examples of what you can use it for to your first post, and maybe also include an example project in the zip, and before you know it, you'll be hitting your maximum download quota

Yepp, that's what it does. Any form of data that you need stored in as many sub levels you need.

Ian:
I'm not trying to get everyone to use it. DAdata is made primary for my own use but since it can be used for so many things I decided to release it. Just hoped for some interest. I don't have time to make lots of examples just to get ppl interested. However I will put up an image showing how it can be used.

Mega:
The download is in my first post, it's version A.2.0 but the only thing it lacks is the export command and I will release that soon, maybe today. Take the tutorial that is packed with the app and you will learn how it works. And don't be scared of me

DG: AWESOME! I was about to try and write my own method of storing RPG data, but this will (hopefully) make things much easier than I had orignally thought! Not to mention how easy it will make modifying the data.
