Game:

Asteroid Runner is a "survive as long as you can" style game. Dodge asteroids, blow 'em up, do what you need to to survive. The speed and intensity of the game increases over time, leading to your inevitable doom.

Controls:

The controls can be changed around and can utilize whatever your platform offers.

Movement
Keyboard (WASD or Arrowkeys)
Accelerometer

Laser
Mouse (Left-click, uses 2 lasers)
Multitouch (Up to 4 touches registered, 1 laser per touch)

Video:

Background:
(AKA Interesting factoids)

The game is entirely 2D, but uses a depth algorithm to give the appearance of 3D.
The only trigonometry used in the code was for creating a camera tilt while turning.

This is my application for the CodeProject competition using the ultrabook. To start off, it'll only be in the AppUp store.

There are framerate issues when running this on less powerful platforms like phones and the iPad, so I will likely have to change some things around for running on those.
It's mainly the way that I'm drawing the lasers that causes the framerate to drop, so I'll have to figure out a different way of doing that... I do love how nice they look right now, though. A screenshot just doesn't do them justice.

This looks great! Love the game. The music is pretty nice too, not sure it fits the game (I think something with a little more action would be better) I can say that cos I wrote that tune

Good luck in the compo!

Thanks, baxslash!

I was looking around for royalty free music, and of the ones I came across yours just seemed to fit the best. If I was good enough at making tunes of my own, you're right I would have gone for something with a faster beat.

I believe the game to be "finished" now. Just waiting for the UB sensor stuff to get fixed, so that I can finalize and finetune.
