Okay updated my operating system and of course had to reinstall FPS Creator. Installed just fine then did the 1.16 update and used the updater within the program to get the latest update. After applying the patch, I find it has indeed turned my FPS into the free version since when I click on view licenses, it says "no license found".

I check the userini file and find that ALL of my personal data is in there including my valid FPS key. I delete the file and then create a new one like some here on the forum have suggested hoping to rectify the issue-no such luck. So how does one undo the effects of the patch and turn their free version back into the registered, fully licensed version????

okay now I went online to my account at the FPS creator website and I pasted the code that I found there into the userini file hoping that this would rectify the issue. Still, no license found. Any ideas?

Hey there,

put a username in there, too, to make the license complete.

how did you save the file when you put the key in?

the user.ini (or somthing like that)

needs to be saved as a .ini file

make sure its saved as an INI file.

and also make sure you do not have FPSC open while doing it.

PAIN!

The file is called userdetails.ini, and this issue is covered in two sticky threads both here and here.

If you are attempting to enter and save your details in the "ini" file, remember that if you installed in the default folder (c:\Program Files\The Game Creators\FPS Creator) and you do not have the required permissions to save, you may need to copy the "ini" file to another folder, edit, then copy back as Administrator.

Also, when entering your serial, ensure you don't have an extra space on the same line with the serial (tends to happen with a cut/paste). If entered correctly and still not working, then your serial is invalid and you may need to contact Support to solve the issue.

There's no problem that can't be solved without applying a little scripting.

Also, from what I have read before that there are two alphabetic letters within the serial number. The first letter should be in uppercase letter and the second letter in lowercase At least that is the way it is for my serial number. It is case-sensitive.

its not that the keys are no good. Its that the update requires you to put the keys in again to activate the full options of FPSC.

Okay, I thought that might be the case, but I thought there was a way to do that WITHIN the software without having to go and edit some user details file. If that is indeed the case, I would appreciate it if someone could point it out to me....

Um, I did point it out already, 4 posts up. The links explain what you need to edit.

Locate where your FPS Creator folder is (where FPSC-Game.exe is located). There is a file called "userdetails.ini". Open with notepad, it looks like the following:

[PERSONAL DATA]
YourName=YOURNAME
YourSerialCode=YOURSERIAL
YourFullPath=YOURINSTALLPATH\The Game Creators\FPS Creator

[LOCALIZATION]
language=english

Put your name in "YourName", then your serial in the "YourSerialCode". Save the file. That's all there is to it. And remember in my previous message- if you installed in "C:\Program Files\The Game Creators\FPS Creator" folder and it won't save, that is because of Windows security and you not having the permission to edit/save in the "Program Files" location. You will need to copy the "userdetails.ini" file to another folder where you can edit and save, then copy back as Administrator.

Well like one of the other previous posters also pointed out, there's already data in there. And two, when I did the process you recommended, nothing changed. It still comes up with no license found no matter how many times I do it...

But for the sake of making certain that the process was done correctly, I did it again several times, making certain there were no spaces, no typos and that the file was in fact saved as an ini and the issue still persists....

What OS are you running ngwithrsd? I have this feeling he's running a 64bit system and failing to place the (x86) in his path line???
YourFullPath=C:\Program Files (x86)\The Game Creators\FPS Creator
Did you just copy and paste?

Its funny that you would ask that, since I am running a 64 bit system, but yes that path is in there and is indeed specifying the(x86)....

The FIX for losing your licence
just copy and paste and put a ; in front of each line pasted.

[PERSONAL DATA]
[email protected]
YourSerialCode=00000000000000
YourFullPath=C:\Program Files (x86)\The Game Creators\FPS Creator

[LOCALIZATION]
language=english

This is your backup. and it works. just copy and past if the info
above is lost and remove the ;

;[email protected]
;YourSerialCode=0000000000000
;YourFullPath=C:\Program Files (x86)\The Game Creators\FPS Creator

;[LOCALIZATION]
;language=english

YourSerialCode=--A---------b---

I have mentioned this before. There are two letters that are a part of the serial code. The first letter has to be uppercase and the second letter has to be lowercase.

As ncmako mentioned the (x86) is usually the issue. I even forgot it when I first used Win7. Be sure there is a space between Program Files and (x86). Another problem could be the fact you installed it in a completely different drive and/or folder. If you did then you need to use the exact full path and not the default.

Although the path is required it is incidental. The serial code is what tells FPSC that you own it. I believe you said you own two FPSC products? Maybe it makes a difference to which one you installed. The serial codes would then have to match the one you have installed. I'm not accusing you of anything; but, if none of this works then I have to wonder if you purchased this from somewhere other than TGC. What Blackfox and then Meows and others have said should have cleared this up long ago already.

Well I have the same problem and have done everything listed here and the other 2 posts and I still get the no license found. I have a 32 bit system and am running vista so I don't think I need (x86).

I wish TGC would get it together and get it fixed. I probably have not had a full license since I bought this product in 2005 or 6. You should get what you paid for!

I have done a full restore to my system a week ago. Set it back to factory default and then updated everything and re-installed FPSC from the disk and ran update 1.19 no license. Just removed the program re-installed FPSC and updated and still no license.

Just out of curiosity, do you run any type of resident 3rd party spyware protection or system utilities?

@Dragon slayer, wow sorry to see you having so long of a problem with this.
One thing I noticed not mentioned yet is the registry. I know it stores your info under "current_user\software\fpscreator" my serial is in there. If the two dont match per chance, one should have problems,Right??? Just a shot.

The reason I ask about third party programs is that some people use things like SpyBot Search & Destroy which can lock down the registry.

I would think so. I don't know a lot about the registry. I tried to find what you mentioned in your post but couldn't. I don't know where to look

Yeh, if you dont know much about the registry dont mess with it. It's the heart and soul of your OS.Deleting the wrong key can make your system unstable or not bootable. Some users who had problems uninstalling or fresh install FPSC had to cleanout the registry keys.
1. To get to the registry editor (start->run->TYPE "regedit" )
2.HKEY_CURRENT_USER
3.Software
4.FPS Creator

I checked this out and the serial code that is there is the right one. I compared it with that page open and the page on TGC that shows my codes open and they are the same.

Wha's interesting is that I looked at the serial code listed on "My Account" and it is totally different from the serial code I use. However, when I ordered FPSC in 2007 I had to wait for a DVD and could not get a download. I'm not sure why I have two different serial codes.

Anyway, have you even contacted TGC about this?

I have and they told me to do everything that was posted here, which I have done. When I ordered I got the download and had to wait for the cd to come in the mail. The serial I have is the one for the cd. I am going to check that. There is only one serial on my page. Maybe that is for the DL

OK I think I just found out my problem, thanks to Flatlander. The serial code in my account is different than the one that is on the back of the little book that came with the FPSC disk. The code in my account must be for the download and that has been the one that I have been using when I installed with the disk because I was too lazy to go find my book!

I will go and remove the program and do a fresh install and use the code off the back of the book and see what happens. I will be back soon to let everyone know what's up!

That was not the problem. I am going to DL the one in my order history and use the code on that page to see if that works

Dragon slayer solved his "no license found" problem. Under help/view item licenses there isn't one. But you should still be able to build a game once you enter your serial.

If you can build a game they you are running the paid version. The free version does not allow you to build a game.

Also, in the title bar at the time you will see FPS Creator Free if you are running the free version. It might be FPS Creator (Free).

Wait what? "View licenses"? Where is this. The only thing I see is view item licenses, which shows me all my Game creator store item licenses.

That is what I am talking about. I was thinking it would ahow that you are a licensed FPSC user. Not from what flatlander and TGC says.

If you are in the free version it will say in the top status bar and you will not be able to build games, only run them in test mode. Got that in an email from TGC
