I have had DBP for years. I got the disk in the mail. I was having problems with my laptop so I wiped it out and started over. I installed DBP from the disk and the latest upgrade and ran it and it asked for the activation key. I have no idea where it is. There was an option to get a free activation key, what is that? Will it turn my DBP into a free version with things missing.

I really don't want to buy it again especially since I know how TGC is about getting things to you, even a download. I can buy it today and not see it until the middle of next week!!! LOL

Actually I may check out some of the bundles TGC offers in case I have to buy it again!

OK I found that and got my code all is well now so for the big question. If the free version is the same as the paid for version why do we pay for it. There has to be something different or something the free version doesn't do. I don't know as I never used it. Bought DBP as soon as it came out!

paid version gives you the license to sell what you create, that is the only difference

What about the annoying advertising in the (default) IDE?
Is that actually supposed to be there in the paid version as well, because I've had that hiding my output log for months now (I mostly use DGDK anyway so that's why I haven't searched actively for an answer / brought it up myself before )

it's present only in free version, but there are other IDE's out there which are free, better and don't have ads

That's odd then, because mine does and I've had the paid version for 6 or 7 years now
I agree that there might be better IDE's around but last time I tried some different ones they all had issues of their own such as slowdowns during intellisense lookups etc.

Are you connected to the interent while you're coding?
Is your internet connection slow?
My IDE also shows adds, but only when my connection is slow or i'm not connected at all, that must be "a feature" of the IDE
