I have bin fooling around with the 3d commands and noticed wathever i do the objects have the same lighting?

I want an effect of an torch the player holds when walking an dungeon

I haven't dabbled with that version yet but I suspect some "shader" style surface properties may be needed. The reason I suspect this is because it appears to be "3d support" not a fully fleshed out 3d game engine like say Valves source engine right?

I've also seen some forum discussion about shaders so I think that's in the works.
