Is there any way to communicate between an AppGameKit app and a server running in Visual Basic and using Winsock?

That might work. I just don't know if HTTP will be fast enough.

It's for a real-time clock controller so updates would need to be sent at least every 500ms.

Previously I was using TCP/IP going from Windows CE PDAs to the VB6 server.

I have since switched to AppGameKit on Android tablets. I have the AppGameKit client/server working nicely using the multiplayer commands but now I need to communicate between the AppGameKit server and the VB6 Management system.

Or should I post directly from the AppGameKit tablets to the web server and then skip the multiplayer protocol entirely?

Never, unless maybe using SSL, directly communicate with any server/database...

But see if it works...

EDIT

500ms is ample time, dependent on your server, could you not implement some form of prediction?
