I'm also in the NE US (Pittsburgh). Anyway, the winds blew out the power at work yesterday. I had to hang around for a while, but then got to go home. Yeah! A free paid 1/2 day of work
Since I'm our IT department, I had to come in early this morning to get everything back up though...

Damn all of this.
I had a chair blown in to me on my way to school. And then I came back and there wuz a monster pile of leaves at my door and I opened it and the shi* flew into my house all over the place and i spent like almost 2 hours cleaning the cra*p up.

It's not just me? I thought it was something local! Good grief. I was woken up repeatedly in the night because the wind battering on my window was so loud it freaked my dog out. I'm almost afraid some of our house windows will break, some of the windows still have panes of glass from the 1890s when this house was built.

@Mouse

"I was woken up repeatedly in the night because the wind battering on my window "

Yeah, I know how that is. My house is pretty old so when we get strong winds the entire house starts to lean one way. Its kind of unnerving to hear the entire side of your house creak really loudly all at once.

i dunno, its pretty windy in hull right now, the massive trees outside my house have been bending back and forth, and a tree was uprooted near work.

i like this sort of whether though, i find walking whilest having the rain hitting me quite relaxing, but that's just because im a freak

i'm liking this wind!

i got off school today cause of it!

crappy power lines in the middle of nowhere + tall trees + heavy wind = no power. sweet!

and i'm 15 miles from school and on another power grid, so i still have power!

stop looking at me!

this wind is like the Exorcist or some sh*t, i opened the window in my office upstairs, to have a smoke, and WAM! the door slammed shut and began flexing in the center from the air pressure! My cat launched himself off balcony overlooking living room with that one!!

It's stopped over here. All the wind ornaments we have are shredded. Let's hope the wind did in the squirrel that always kills our plants .

(Not to be cruel to animals, if it's just moved away that's fine too, but when a single squirrel has terrorized your entire garden and killed your plants for 3 years in a row, you get a bit merciless)

it's still a little breezy here in NYC (N.E.-Queens) I don't mind a breeze here and there but this persistent sh*t is for the clouds. Very annoying to be working out in garage, or moving stuff from car, or especially working on roof 3 storys up!

(Hold on here comes another gust!!!)

"wat kind of weeners close down schools just because of winds?"

umm if the wind takes out power lines and the school has no power/water, you can't very well have school now can you?

My school is under construction and we didn't have heat and there wasnt much running water and most of the lights are out. Along with that, rain comes in because the took out the roof because it was made of espestos.

I wish the wind took out some powerlines near my school
Or atleast blown a school bus into the front lobby so the main office will be destroyed thus ending my horrible lateness record
