Well it''s time to show a project I have been working on and off for a while. It is an untitled fighting game set in a steam punk styled world ( Vampire Hunter D, Full Metal Alchemist, Origin, Princess Monoke). I'm working as a full time UI designer and have been taking my extra money and working on the fighting game. We have a very long way to go but the team consist of me and two concept artist and 1 coder. We will eventually be placing the project on kickstarter at the end of January.

The basic game starts of with plants growing out of control due to failed experiment and main is no longer the dominant life form. The forest has become a live and after years of turmoil the world is at peace. the fighting game takes place as an underground battle between 3 fractions. The religious church that wants to annihilate the forest and restore order, a group sworn to protect balance, and the forest who wishes to remain ontop.

will post story if people interested.

Will likely keep track of this on KS, what engine are you going to be using to produce this?

Beautiful concept art!

I have a few questions:

1) Do you choose which faction you want to fight for? That would allow the story to have 3 outcomes. How is this decided?

2) When you say "2.5D", does this mean that the 2D path of the player is wrapped through the level in complex ways using waypoints (see Kirby64), or is it going to be just a straight line through the 3D worlds without any other dimension?

3) I would love to read the story!

4) What language/SDK are you guys making it in?

5) Could you go a little deeper into the actual fighting mechanics you have planned? Will there be combos? Will there be upgrades? Will there be multiple ways to attack/defend?

Well the fighting mechanics are still in dveloment on paper. I have been a fan of games like killer instinct, mortal kombat, soul calibur, guilty gear. I have also been playing every fighting game i can get my hands on. So I have a system that is mainly combo based, with a few tweeks. Think mortal kombat 9 with the combos of killer instinct.

as to answer your question you pick 1 of 12 characters and fight similar to mortal kombat. I'm just sick of fightign games with no story so we spent lots of time planning a story worthy of an rpg.

MORE CONCEPT ART.

I wanted to also let people know a little more about the gameplay and world. Basically each town and district is different and have there on fighting style. You pick a character from one of those districts, with unique powers and fighting styles. You then battle tournament style to the death. The point of the game is to ascend so some characters can change shape, such as those from the forest, or enhance there weapon to deal more damage. (think bloody roar) the transformation is controlled by an energy bar, the more damage you take the more you build up. You can choose to use this bar to perform enhanced moves, break combos, or a full transformation.
