So I don't know if anyone else has uploaded an App in the last month but I have.

My App Holiday Cheer may not look enticing to a bunch of male programmers but you should have seen the female's I beta tested it on!

I swear more than one of them took my phone from me and told me to come back later, they loved it!

Also its Christmas and this is a HOLIDAY game.. instant sales right?

When my game was released it did NOT SHOW UP ON THE NEW APPS area!

I checked in the Apple Developer forums and it turns out almost no one's apps are.

Apple has a new search engine and they are only featuring the top 200 App's roughly.

Most apps will now only be found if your user can find it in a search.

Unfortunately I have sold ? less than 10 copies the first week , which is exponentially smaller sales.

This means Apple is focusing on the big game developer and cutting out Indie's in my opinion.

It is strongly making me reconsider my current focus on the iOS market. All of a sudden Apple is a ghost town as far as my App's are concerned.

Any initial buzz I could hope to get from the new apps section is gone from this point forwards.

Has anyone else been hit by this yet?

Did you experience a dramatic drop in release sales?

Honestly the only thing that makes me want to bother to submit further release at all is :

A) I already paid my developer fee
*AND*
B) AppGameKit makes it so that if I already wrote it compiling on iOS is easy

If those two conditions did not exist together I would just go ahead and stop developing for it right now.

Any one have any information that makes this situation look any more pleasant?

Any thoughts to share?

Nothing to make it more pleasant, but not that i fancy Android any longer, but the Android Play Store has TOP PAID - TOP FREE - TOP NEW PAID - TOP NEW FREE

Which should give more of a chance, but again they are ranked as well...

I would say, HOPE that Windows Phone 8 gets supported, and then you have an all new market to delve into!

I will be getting a Windows Phone 8 as soon as my business contractor for telecommunications [British Telecom (BT)] get a Win8Phone as an option ^^ I am hoping for a Samsung one

I would not be surprised with that kind of story regarding Apple, while I do not shun their devices, I do shun their business and cultural practices...

Sorry to see that being the issue, by the way it is just $25~ one time fee for the Android Play Store... [Someone correct me if this has changed]

I hope the circumstances change for you buddy!

Try advertising it on various websites! [you know game articles, they are free ] Also set up a facebook page if not already done so

Another issue for you, you have 1 devastative comment on that Apple Store already and there is no way for users to rate it up, otherwise I am sure EVERYONE FROM THE FORUM would gladly positive click it for you, me included!

I noticed a decline in sales on my iOS apps after Apple unveiled the new app store with iOS 6. When a user searches for a particular keyword (at least on iPhones etc), they now only see one app per page sorted by popularity rather than the grid of apps shown previously. So, it takes much more time for them to even stumble upon my apps which are not nearly as popular as many of the others.

I've invested heavily in Apple (pretty much every one of their devices since 3G for thorough testing) along with the developer fees, and don't like where the app store is headed. It's kind of ironic how the massively popular apps that need no promotion at all are the only ones many people can find anymore due to how much the stores promote them. Facebook is the same way, or at least it was last time I checked. Their "new" or "hot" apps would only display those that already had like 100,000 users playing!

I contemplate doing more with Android but am still concerned with the countless different devices, resolutions etc. on those devices.

P.S., Also, my greatest annoyance with Apple is that, as you experienced, when someone leaves you a 1-star review you have no ability to reply to them, publicly or privately. I've had 1-star reviews simply because they overlooked a feature or needed a little assistance but they didn't contact me and I have no way of contacting them. Google has been rolling out support to allow developers to reply to reviews. Plus with Apple as soon as you update your app unless the users leave another review their old ones get hidden by default.

Ironic how I found this in a single search...

But I have the best device the Samsung Galaxy SII, both for testing and release model...

Here is an interesting Article on Android Device Fragmentation

An image found on that page:

Windows Phone 8 should be less fragmented... at least for a few years...

buying the latest apple ios hardware and paying the dev fees is not a heavy investment!!! It's what we all have to do to be an ios developer

Well i also informed on the new Apple ranking algorithm system.
Yes i confirm, the new iOS 6 store ranking is very bad and don't let users see the just released apps.
But i don't think it will be in this way for long time or they will have less developers very soon.

Long life to Steve!

Yes but that phone will not have as many manufacturers like android phones

The fragmentation is strongly because of that android is free and a gazillion of chinese hardware manufacturers sell phones with it.

Buying a android phone neads a bit of knowhow !

The agk page only states win 7 phones in the works?

This is well mango that is vanishing rapidly?

Would be fun to also have an win 8 phone to test some experiments on

Android 2.3 , ZTE Skate , 480x800 , 800 mhz , Samsung Galaxy Y , 240x320 , 832 mhz , Sony ericson arc 480x854 , 1 ghz
Android 4.0 , Dmtech 3g 9738B , 1024x768 , 9.7 inches , 1.2 ghz

I released a game on the appstore but selected a delayed release date. When the release day came, it appeared on the new release section sorted by the day it was approved, not the day it was actually released for sale. My game on release day was about 85 pages back in the new releases. I pitched a bitch fit with Apple but naturally they didn't do anything to rectify the situation. Also, I'm pretty sure the iPhone and iPad apps stores do not 100% use the same criteria.
