Hi. You gents on the forum have never let me down in the past and I trust you won't again,so herewith - I promise - my last dumb question for the year: I'm making a small game with a jungle theme and was delighted to discover "critters" and some other animals on the website. However, they all face the wrong way! I know one can use R and the 1 to 6 keys to rotate the models, and I've done that - but they persist in turning their rear ends to me, and walking away in reverse, rather than moving forward, like the scripts say they should. Any idea what I can do about this?

offx = 0
offy = 0
offz = 0
rotx = 0
roty = 0
rotz = 0
scale = 100
fixnewy = 180

Hi Rolfy. Many thanks for your VERY speedy response. Unfortunately it didn't solve the problem. I tried that, also in combination with Roty=180, and even went so far as to change the script from move forwards to move back (!) but all to no avail. Pity: I would really have liked crocs to attack you while swimming through a pirhana infested river. Thanks nevertheless for your help.
P.S: Luv your spiders! - they are certainly there.

Be sure when testing to delete the .bin and .dbo files first or you will just yield the same results no matter what you change.

Thanks, Disturbing 13, for the reminder. I have been doing that. Yesterday I re-downloaded the elephant and crocodile from the "critters" pack and tried everything I could think of - without success. However, I've been wondering: the critters collection from Gamer X attracted a lot of understandably favourable attention when it appeared in 2010. Guys who downloaded this must have experienced the same problem. Perhaps they can remember what they did to solve it...

When I created those 2 years ago they worked just fine and walked just fine.

Even if I were to go through and make the necessary corrections to fix what must of happened during an update soon after, I can't. I no longer have the original files due to my old computer crashing and causing me to completely reformat the Hard Drive.

I would be better off making newer, better versions of them with the new techniques I've developed since then anyways.

Thanks for the comment, GamerX - I really didn't/don't expect you to do any further work on them! I must say, I have nothing but admiration for your work anyway and I use your other models - and particularly your scripts - quite regularly. Maybe, one day, you can produce newer versions: it seems that lots of gents on the forum are looking for animals, besides those in the native american pack and some other scattered examples.

The "pitcrawler" does the same thing. Even when I change the parameter in the fpe. It's sad because I love the pit crawler. But I'd rather the player not die just because the pit crawler gassed him from the rear.

Addendum:

Rolfy, I just discovered I can't use your spiders either. They do the same thing. At least the large one. One might not notice the small or wee ones, or the wall ones. Haven't tried. :Heavy Sigh: I was going to use these in my game. Darn.

THEORY - you know everything but nothing works. PRACTICE - when everything works but don't know why. For me, theory and practice are combined: nothing works and I don't know why.

Well Flatlander, I'm sorry to hear you have the same problem; on the other hand, its good to know I'm not alone. I'm beginning to get the idea that this has something to do with the initial direction the model was facing on the x axis when originally created - but frankly I don't know, nor have I the facilities to turn a 3d object around.

I have a friend who has what is called "Fragmotion." He has used this to turn some of his own models in the right direction. I sent the Pitcrawler and Spiders to him and he'll see if he can fix it. If he can then maybe he can fix the models you want to use as well.

So, from one ol' grey matter to another . . .

If only I could get one more synapse to spark then I might be able to finish my game.

THEORY - you know everything but nothing works. PRACTICE - when everything works but don't know why. For me, theory and practice are combined: nothing works and I don't know why.
