Windows Phone 7: no
Windows Phone 8: It's possible, but not for a while as it would require a DirectX version of the graphics engine.

Forget Win phone 7, it's a waste of time making agk for an OS that is being phased out.

I think in the near future we will definitely need AppGameKit for win8 and win8 phones though

Didn't Lee rewrite big parts of AppGameKit in DX?

ACKohollic, VS2012 won't work for AppGameKit at this point. AppGameKit only has VS libraries for 2008 and 2010. And it works just fine with the free versions. No need to shell out for the pro one.

That was a one-off type thing. He needed that for the contest. To date, they haven't delivered any AppGameKit versions with vs2012 libraries.

Only in a very limited fashion and not in a state ready to share with the rest of us (at least that is my read on it).

Sorry for the bump.

On the site it still says you guys are looking to support WP7, so it might be worth taking it off the site, should somebody get the wrong idea.

Though I think it's a shame you're not supporting it, but with WP8 out it's understandable, though I know with the latest version of the Windows Phone SDK there's Windows 7.5 and 8 support, so I don't know how difficult it would be to support both.

Hopefully MS can pick up in the market, WP is a great mobile OS, I ended up preferring it over the others.

I've been tempted to get started with AppGameKit for a while now, Windows Phone support would interest me. However, I am a Windows Phone 7.5 user. So it's a hands up for me, with preference to WP7.5.

Here's a thought, if Windows Phone 8 requires DirectX, would it then be possible to port Dark GDK (or Dark GDK.NET) over to Windows Phone with touch commands? If so, would that not be a more viable option?

I support this when agk is stable on ios, android and blackberry.

We should keep in mind wath an huge task they already have on there hands.

If we get more users with agk that scream for it so would they probably add it sooner.

But there is actually very few that seam to care?

Most agk users do android and ios apps.

Iam more wondering about how agk tier 1 works on win 8 as iam thinking about buying a new computer and they all have win 8 installed.

Or should i build my own and buy win 7 that i love?

Android 2.3 , ZTE Skate , 480x800 , 800 mhz , Samsung Galaxy Y , 240x320 , 832 mhz , Sony ericson arc 480x854 , 1 ghz
Android 4.0 , Dmtech 3g 9738B , 1024x768 , 9.7 inches , 1.2 ghz

That would be how I would go for a new machine now. (We always build our own to get the best CPU, MB, Memory, disk combination for our own purposes. Max out the memory for the fastest machine.)

I'm not touching Window 8 ('s' dropped on purpose) with a ten foot pole.

I will wait for Windows 9 (the fixed version to deal with all the issues of Window 8 and desktop usage)

AGK T1 and T2 both work fine on windows 8. I suppose when windows 8 first came out I had the same views as AL but to be honest I have very few issues with it now. Some things I still like better in Windows 7 but then I like some of the new features in Windows 8.

I don’t think it has been communicated very well and also the original confusions with the differences between WinRt and Windows 8 did not help. From a development machine perspective its not much different to windows 7.

The thing is that right now the Windows8 market is small so if there would be an AppGameKit for Windows8 we would have the advantage to capture users hungry for apps.

I thought we would get this sooner or later, when Lee did the Intel contest, but apparently this won't happen any soon.

There are quite a few windows8 "modern" & win8 phone contests around with nice prices, so its a pity.

I suppose for now we can still target Windows 8 Desktop and the Pro Surface. But I understand the frustration as I have a WinRT Surface sitting here waiting for AppGameKit DirectX support

The WinRT Surface has appalling sales, apparently. It will be interesting to see whether it survives for long.

Yes i read something that samsung will not even market or sell its surface pad in the us because of the poor intrest.

But i belive it will survive in one form or another as the market for mobile pads is to large to ignore.

I have my old XP laptop waiting for AppGameKit DirectX Support
Jokes apart, AppGameKit should seriously consider to support both BlackBerry 10 and Windows 8 (Mobile), in order to gain ground. Frankly speaking, Apple iOS is a too closed (and expensive) world, while Android is a too open and cahotic world (too many devices and hw). So there is much space both for Windows (with millions of developers and widespread technologies), and Blackberry that can relies on the wide past commercial success and the promises of the new OS. On the other way, I would not bet a cent on Mozilla Firefox OS...

I agree that we need an AppGameKit 108 for Blackberry, as I think the platform is ideal for the one man programmer who want to make some little pocket money without investing $99 a year on an appstore subscription

You have perfectly caught the point! In Italy Microsoft Surface is targeted at 499€ (basic version) to 899€ (full-fledged), too much for a casual programmer, and the Windows market will be incredibly crowded by millions of programmers. Android, on the other side, is full of "not willing to pay" people. Apple is a...sorry for the strong words...a robbery like Gatwick Express, UK people should understand, you only save yourself with Internet booking
So I will subscribe for Playbook BB10 as soon as it appears, if the price stays below 300€...but I hope that TGC will rethink the plans and add support for the upcoming version 1.08 (stable).
P.S. Support for WindowsRT (+DirectX) would not be bad, anyway...but TGC seems more or less what you said in your post, a 1-2 (excellent) programmer business

I to would like to see BB support back in AGK. It seems like RIM are relay willing to give money and devices to whoever develops apps for them

RIM are really developer friendly & supportive. 2nd place goes to Intel. Apple makes developers' life a hell!

I had some bad experience with them during the Ultrabook competition. Like my apps getting rejected beacause I left out a "tm". But they didn't even tell me the error.

I am surprised and and a little pissed that Playbook support has not been added to the current version. It is still a viable platform and we were promised that AppGameKit would support it after iOS and Android updates were released so it really irks me that TGC has apparently backtracked on that promise...

I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for an answer on this from Lee or Rick. It'll probably be ignored and we'll all have to pretend that it was never said.
