-- SOLVED! --

Hey one and all!

So basically, I am using some models for grass and trees which I have made myself, and then when I load them into my project and call the
ect, then I get the backdrop like seeping through around the edges of the leaves/grass.

If anyone knows how to fix this I would be really greatful! Also, I have been looking around att the diferent skyboxes, and the RTS skyboxes which come with extends I dont like particularily, I recently downloaded one from the Game Creator Store, what I got was a .x file and around 7 .dds files, however, when I try loading it in as an object, I don't get anything :/

Thanks in advance!

Do you have the Animated Sprite Pack?? there is a nifty FVF trick in there, which is for animated textures but pretty sure it can be applied to the same process... FVF tricks [Flexible Vertex Format]

But this trick > GHOST OBJECT ON ObjNum, 0 works fine for me with a .png file... try converting those textures to .png format...

WAH that is odd, are you applying any lights or such to them?

Can you show me your object load call and any other code associated with the objects, be it lights, colour, etc...

I will have a go at loading a Plant Life object into a test environment to recap any particulars...

SET OBJECT TRANSPARENCY ObjNum,1 is a quick fix, but I believe it works better if the texture has a filled in background... instead of transparent...

Ok, so if I add a background to the images, then how would I like make the background colour 'invisible'?

Ah, try to only use one at a time, only use transparency on its own, see if that works...

Only the transparency = the first picture
Transparency + ghost = the last picture
Only ghosting = looks like the last picture aswell

Are the textures mapped correctly? stored in the same folder? and you only need to load in the object, the textures just need to be in the same folder, also ensure you apply some form of lighting, or ambience at least... to 30+ I currently have a light set on it in a project... you could try applying a colour value of 100,100,100 maybe...

adding an ambient light did naff all, and yes, all the files are in the same folder and have not been renamed.

All I've done is:

urm, you just call set ambient light, to adjust the default one... it affects everything by default [At least what I found to be the case]

Oh yeah, 'SET OBJECT NORMALS ObjNum' often fixes some lighting issues for me...

nevermind! I just realized what was going on, the actual skybox was tiny, and it was hidden under some other models I had loaded in but not given positions to yet. Simply scaling it up works thanks anyway!

This is what I am currently doing... you can just play with the emissive values to get your desired results...

SET OBJECT NORMALS ObjNum
SET OBJECT EMISSIVE ObjNum, RGB(xxx,xxx,xxx)
SET OBJECT AMBIENT ObjNum,1

Hope that helps...
