If you didn't know already, there is a FREE giveaway of metro 2033 by THQ from 11 to 16th december.

http://www.freemetrogame.com

Edit: Sorry, forgot to mention it's on facebook. You like the page and you get a code for the game on steam.

Oh come on. We're trying to talk with sigs here and you rudely interrupt.

Well, I don't have a facebook account and I'm wondering if the trouble of creating one is worth the game itself. Is this a decent game? Am I going to go through spam hell for signing up? Will my intelligence quotient fall another 10 points from the mere association with facebook? Will I have to become friends with the likes of Spiff and Honey Boo Boo? Any input appreciated.

Signed,
Play or Pay?

Pretty much all you do is this:

1. 'Like' the page the link above goes to
2. A code will be revealed to redeem the game (make copy of this, I took a screen shot of the whole page)
3. On the same page, you have a link to a download which is a metro 2033 installer, download it (instructions also on the page)
4. Run the installer, copy & paste the code (steam pops up for thing if I remember) and it's added to your steam library.

That's it!

You can deactivate your account after that and never use it again. No spam what so ever!

OR...

Get someone with a facebook account to like the page, get the code for you and send you the link for the installer, then just run the installer!

I knew it! I immediately got 3 emails from facebook after the download. Now how do I delete the account?

That's not spam. It's just facebook emails you facebook notifications - you can disable this. As of delete. You can't! As I said, you can deactivate it. Once it's reached a certain time of being deactivated the account will delete itself.

In Account Settings
Click on Security on the left
Right at the bottom of the list it will say Deactivate your account
Click and follow instructions.

Note: you could just keep it and never use it. Block everything. Disable notification. And never have to worry about it. The reason I say keep it is a lot of free give away games appear on facebook like this, so it's handy to have in those moments.

You could have bought it for whatever ridiculously low amount along with all the other goodies in the Humble Bundle, I would rather castrate myself with blunt rocks than create a Facebook account.

dont hate people who rip you off, cheat and get away with it, learn from them

I've got an idea. You could ask a non-gaming friend who already has a Facebook account to get the code for you.

I clicked the link in the OP, for the past couple days it has only brought me to my main Facebook page... I also tried the Nvidia one, all they say is that they've run out of free keys...

The game company that makes Metro is Ukranian, so maybe they judged the time by their time zone?

Really? If you adjust your settings you never have to receive e-mails from them. I couldn't live without my Facebook account now.
