@ MrValentine that's good.
@ Southside thanks. I try to make time but once a few weeks i only have a few hours to work on it. Everytime you mention Fighting Force makes me want to turn it into a classic style beat em' up even more.

I mentioned Fighting Force

Southside - looking good man!, yes I had a shop in the city centre for little over a year now... Just two agonising weeks to go before I am completely free... And then you will see a lot of interesting material from me

so a kind of gift shop like store? sounds like a pain in the butt

@all

Well the players can now run in my world! and I got Sparky working too! so they will collide with the ground and walls and such!

Here is a screen shot of me and my sisters playing with the current build. I would link it in the post, but it's a big capture, so view it by clicking the view button.

As of now I plan on going a little dark. The next thing you see of my project is going to be my awesome promo trailer! I will still post updates, Just no more seeing.

this is what it looks like so far also as shown on my other thread. Helmet isn't textured yet, but just wanted to throw it in there. The eyes are still a placeholder.

Dude! nice! you did a good job on the helmet!

The eyes really make the character much more human too. Is this the playable character, or an enemy?

Can't wait for more!

This is the main character. This will be a short game. This game project will be the key to building the basics of my game engine that I needed to start. the project will have 3-4 levels with 4 villains. Only a summary of the storyline. It is pretty much part 1 of four of her greatest battles.

if I could ever find it. I can show everyone my concept work of her back when I was in high school. I know I've been working on the character designs for a long time. on and off of course. It started out looking like megaman and power rangers. lol. It started out with modified sprites of RPG Maker and moved onto classic game maker then it finally moved onto this forum and never left other than my computer. lol I tried to make sure my characters look less childish(power rangerish) and look more like the type of manga and super heroes I've grown up with. Her armor is supposed to be a metal texture, but I'm still learning how to work paint.net/GIMP. In the future I will invest in buying photoshop and she will have the look she was meant to have.

I can suggest a cheaper alternative to PS ^^

DarkNet2.0 I have decided to play with it inside .NET now as in DBPro it is a bit frivolous and the syntax is not the same as the documentation...

I would love to learn to write servers... might go have a look at Amazon right now

Liger, did you have a look at Fighting Force yet?

Not had chewing gum properly for over a decade now...

I will try to take a look at DN2 but it really depends on what you want to do with it...

I could always play with making a server in C#.NET

Well I got some good news, I started a server. and could actually connect to it!

Now I just need to nail data packets.

I would love to put a picture of me doing some sort of celebratory crouch from Halo. But I'm not sure how the mods would feel about an animated GIF of such an event.

herrmm..... I was hoping the rest would be easier... I don't even know how to count the number of clients. :\

I'm thinking maybe I'll try multisynce. I don't want to Because I already paid for DarkNet and it seems really really good, But I can't seem to figure it out in a nice time frame. And darn it I can't even count the number of players connected,It's under my skin in a really bad way. I've been doing nothing for 2 hours now trying to just count the number of players in the game. It does not help with the lack of documentation. Only documentation I found does not even line up with DarkBasic.

*sigh* back to square one...

What did I say earlier haha

I have a working client count list code, it comes with DarkNet...

Look in the folders where DarkNet firstly installs, not the DBPro Projects folder...

I think for now I'm going to stick with DBP's own native commands. already I have a game lobby that can send packet data. It might be a step down, But it is working well for me right now.

Also I did not know there was another file with Dark Net :\

update:

well it's going slow, but it is coming together. The host can now send the data for the map they are going to play to the clients, I need to rewrite how the data is sent a little, But it's coming along nicely.

Well I can now have the host send the world data to all clients! Yay! now I just need to work on syncing the players in the game, as well as telling all clients what player they control.

Before I go off to work I'm wondering if there is a good way to turn 3d animations into 2d frame by frame because that will save me lots of time if I wanted a 2d port of my upcoming project.

Well I found out why I was having trouble sending the map data to the clients. the file was to big. I did some tests and found that I can only send about 20 peaces of data at a time... Meaning I now have to write a function that will send the file off in chunks of 20. Then make sure the clients get the data in the right order...

*sigh* why can't multisync just have a "send file" command? :\

well... better get coding...

I looked into it a little. It seems like it could work. But also seems like it would be a hassle.

I think I'll just make it so clients will need to pre-download new maps ahead of time. Considering all players will have a story already added, if a team wants to use there own map they will just have to deal.

left eye is the one I recreated(minus eyebrow). the original one is the right. seems pretty easy. Next I'm going to make a complete new one. For now this one is a prototype. error on this one is that the black lines are anti-alias while the rest are not. so it looks a little funny for me.

edit:
here it is complete with both eyes. Tomorrow I will create the actual one. I can't wait. I have to get ready for work now.

Well of all things I've decided on using Irrlicht engine for my C++ game project at first I was going to go for plain OpenGL. For now I'm going to set it up. I am extremely rusty on my C++ so bare with me. lol First thing I'm going to do is to set it up for full screen(1920x1080) along with a simple camera, skybox, and a 3d model from the demos. After that when i have more time I'll post up pics. After that too I'm going to build up the level which is a small size city for our hero to run around.
