I heard it was the code:blocks compiler and something that has to do with my x64 64 bit computer. Right now I'm trying to install the lastest mingw w64. btw thanks I'll ask him. So far the opengl demos work. I'm going to fool around with it to see if it's anywhere to my liking. If it works out good than I'm going to go for that. I know it's a lot of work, but I'm not looking for many advanced shaders or etc. I know for sure in the future I will need bloom shader for sure. lol. For now all I'm trying to do for now is to make a working window that will display "Hello world" and maybe a simple obj 3d model.

btw this is the 3d model I did but with the prototype eyes. the eyes need adjustment especially on "Y" axis.

@ DevilLiger

good luck bro

update:

I got online split screen to work! up to 3 players can play on the same computer in an online game! (provided there are only two players connected of course)

It works in any combination. I would link the photo to the forum page, But it's big. So click view to see it.

Yay!

I have took all the problem down to the point where it kept getting an error on the c++ compiler somehow on Code::Blocks. vc++ can't link Irrlicht.dll somehow. I'm still figuring it out. For the meantime so much errands in my way plus work soon I just want to rip my hair out. Im still figuring out what is causing the lnk1119/lnk1120 error.

VS? not yet. just Visual C++ 2010. Going to try it on different OS like 7 and XP. I'm planning to build me a Linux computer soon so I hope that will help me see What my upcoming projects will look like by than.

edit:
I'm getting close to getting the hello world sample to work. I'm in the same error on the end of this video. I'm still trying to get it to work. Getting close. turns out the win64 lib folder was no good and I was suppose to use the win32. I felt like an idiot. btw I'm already in the middle of texturing the helmet. I edit it to make it look more better. I'm using GIMP this time.

what? I dunno. lol at that picture I just paste it on and fix it in the whatever paint program. btw I'm not really good at 2d art, but only sort of knows how to 3d model. As time goes on I hope to get better at texture, animation, and 3d model. I've never tried 2d pixel stuff before. I actually want to one day for openBOR(open beats of rage). all this time I thought you knew 3d modeling? no?

I do know 3D modelling, just not focussing on it right now, I am rooting my coding practices at the moment starting with C then C++ and C# and then .NET and more...

You should try using a square image file if you are having issues with that texture... also if not already, use PNG with Alpha RGBA format and only use 24-Bit if you can... but it has been a while...

MrValentine do you not think it's only worth learning a specific language if you have a specific need for it? For example I'm now learning Java because that's what I'll be using at university for the next three years. I wouldn't look at it otherwise unless I had a specific need - such as modding minecraft or something.

Hey Indicium,

Well I am in a few slices here, I could just stick with C# / .NET 4.5+ [hereafter just C# for the two], but then learning C helps with all C based languages, and learning C++ a bit does not hurt, I will be primarily sat comfortably inside C# for the foreseeable future, but I have plans to work with C++ in future as I wish to use Direct3D and later OpenGL [mainly DX] for my games, but I will continue to utilise C# for the majority of my work including Web and Server based services...

On the other hand I am fed up with Web Developments a bit fruitless for me lately [Not money just excitement] and I wish to use the C# side of web technologies for a single coding practice of sorts... I already know and understand HTML5/CSS3/jQuery-JavaScript/PHP/MySQL, but I lack extended experience in SQL in general and aim to work with MSSQL in future centrally...

I am not usually good at answering such questions so feel free to ask further if I did not really answer your question...

But to add to that, I am the kind of person who likes to know how EVERYTHING works inside what might be being used, in other words I like to know my tools inside out before venturing into a project that includes real life and the digital world...

I'm still having trouble with it, but I haven't got time to figure it out yet. For the mean time other than my job I'm just playing Payday 2 for a few hours. Other than that on Thursday I will make time for it including more updated 3d model including the retexture. Other than that I must also update my generic female model and start on Blender once again, but on a generic male model and finish the other generic model of the male. For the female generic model I'm increasing the polycount higher to make it look more smooth. Im guessing maybe by 1,000-2,000 triangles.

Lol ok then, I was starting to think we were bugging you or something.

@ all

Well I got another chunk of code done. triggers can now be started. only two items are codded for it now, but any new ones will work the same depending on what they should do.

The first set of plates is a showing off that you can activate certain items with any one of the plates.

The second one is any two of the plates. if at least two plates are on then it will activate the phase

The third is all three are needed

The fourth is to give you an idea of how to use them.

Pressure plates are not the only way to start a phase. I just used them because they were the first codded. I will add invisible trigger zones that will work the same way, but can not be seen.

More to come on this later.

I think it is time for a status update

Bold items indicate I have made some progress already or accomplished the resolution for this year!

- Publish more Apps... <-- Should be completed by the end of this year aiming for at least 2 apps before December!

- Compete in more competitions... <-- I won another competition last month! FIRST PLACE vs. 30,000+!!! this is my latest addition to completing my resolutions!
- Develop my skills further... <-- Enhanced by adding both C and C++ to my language skills!
- Make at least 1 Market [As in Android Play Market, Steam, Apple Store, MS Store etc...] published Application... <-- Hopefully launching my first app in 2-3 weeks from this coming week!
- Become a good Cook / Baker again...

Okay, I'll bite:

1) More excercise - yep! Bike rides, walks, gym, swimming. Not at the fitness level I want, but building on it.
2) Eat more healthily - cut out the rubbish - not only that, but since this new diet I started at the end of august I've lost 1 stone 2 pounds
3) Return to Karate and kick some butt...work towards my black for next year's grading Not done...this will be likely next year's resolution, my fitness level is still behind (I'm really unfit), I predict January...if I hit December, then I am technically fulfilling this XD.
4) Get a job in journalism/writing Nope! Not yet. But working on improving technical documents at work. This is about as close as I've got, but this is highly difficult when you work in a busy call centre. Ah well, it's good on my CV though, "writing technical documents for LG" sounds good I think, maybe an employer will like the sound of it and I can move from my call centre job to something more preferable. I did try to hint at having 'somebody' IE: me, work on our tech documents full time.

5) Build my kickass gaming PC, at long last Done.
6) Complete a project, maybe Abeyance. Erm...nope.
7) Finish my novel Doubt it.
8) Visit friends up North more often, I barely visited them 2012 I've done worse this year than last year.
9) Drink more. I've been pretty teetotal in 2012 I've done this. This translates to 'have more fun with people', people at work are pretty sociable and work pays for nights out, so it's good.

1: make a demo for my main project.

Not happening. I canceled this one as it was outside my scope and I was not getting anywhere. I'll finish it some day. But I need more skill.

2: eat better.

For the most part this one is good. Still eat more junk food than I should. But I'm not drinking 2 sodas a day anymore. just one or two a week now.

3: make a game by the end of the year.

Going well. Though I expect it to be close.

Very Very Very nice Southside!

Sorry for responding so late I did see the email yesterday but I was busy at my shop, unexpectedly, had to plan for the XMAS markets... going to be building a 2.6m x 2.0m wall ^^ will be posting about the design over the weekend if I get around to it this weekend...

Very good work there, I could suggest you bought Dark Source which includes Smoothing Positioning [As part of network gaming but it is shown with local movement], some of the code in that pack are extremely useful!

I also noticed the cute click animation ^^ very nice

I checked that item out and it looks great! I will get it next pay day for sure.

Lol I did not make the click animation. My screen recorder adds it to show when the mouse has been clicked. now that you mention it though maybe I will make one of my own in the same style...
