FirstStudio 3 will be similar to the Adobe suite, except for the fact that it'll be for FPSC. It will include many tools that will make certain processes easier, or even automate them. This project is still in the feasibility stage, i'd like to see how many people would be interested in this. Due to production costs and time, this product will be at a cost. However, it will have flexible pricing. More is explained in the cost section.

How it will work.
The product will be collection of apps that automate processes, it's hard to explain at the moment as the product is only young, but i've listed some app ideas that we've had so far.

- CodeWorks - Easily create FPI codes from templates or the code building wizard.
- TextAir - Create on-screen text easily.
- OverShop - Easily create overlay files.
- Introducer - Create introductions to your games that load before the main menus.
- GameWeaver - Create your level through the GameWeaver wizard, change the gameover.fpi, gamewon.fpi, loadingpage.fpi, setuplevel.fpi and the Title Page.

If you have any suggested programs, please contribute ideas.

Cost
It shouldnt come as too much of a surprise that this will cost. The time taken to produce this will be massive. I am hoping to sell the FirstStudio 3 as a package, but then also have the option to buy the products separately. I am also going to develop a few extra apps for an ELITE version.

I am hoping, at the minute, to keep the price around £10.

Suggestions
It'd be great to hear app suggestions from you guys, as well as general suggestions on pricing etc. Also, it'd be awesome if you're really good at scripting and can provide a few free scripts (FPI) to be used as templates in CodeWorks.

Cheers!

I like this idea, it sounds great!

Okay, here we go!

Ive been looking for tutorials on how create hud's and how to make a custom menu for my project. Searching results gave me good answers, but even more people requesting 'menu maker' and 'animated hud maker' software. Its not something i need badly (my project's hud is almost finished), but it could be a usefull tool.

Other then that, Introducer sounds great to! is it like having a video play before the menu starts?

Goodluck on FirstStudio3!

I would use it.

Just keep in mind there might be some changes with Scripts when the Reloaded version comes out. You might want to double check with Lee on that before you spend time on it and then find out later (less then a Year) it wont work with the Reloaded version.

I would assume a large percent of people will be changing over making it so you have less Sales if it didnt work with the Reloaded version.

But other then that I would totaly Buy/Use it. What ever tool that makes Game Production Faster and Easier is a possitive.

PAIN!

Me = noob

and i love The TGC : )

@abdullh - That's cool. What I was thinking of doing is selling the products separately, but then also discounted as a pack.

@speedytzr - That's great to know, i'll take a look into animated huds.

@pain - Thank's for the heads up, hadn't yet considered that!

Cheers,

Unfortunately, Vishnu Packer is a separate application made by another author (s4real). Not only would the OP need s4real's permission to include with his tool set, the OP would also need the permission from the distributing site, which is us. Since Vishnu is under our umbrella, to include it in any other software "bundle" would require a change to the legal/disclaimer information.

The OP could however code his application to allow the user to specify where Vishnu Packer is located and then the user would have to ensure it is installed. If I recall correctly, the FPSC Eclipse thread had something similar to the idea.

BlueFox, thank's for addressing this issue. FPSC Eclipse does have this feature and supports Vishnu Packer.

It is no problem. I wanted to make sure that the newer users understand that software creators cannot simply add another outside application made by someone else without going through the steps. If you have a setting where users can point to where an outside application is installed by the user, and it can be launched from your interface via button, then that works fine.

HI Wheatleyy
Very interested in this. One thing I've been looking for is a simple method or program just for scaling .X files. Right now I just use a reference "segment/entity" and adjust accordingly.
"Entity Workshop V2" is good, but with limits.I guess first,is it possible?

If you say what you need specific, I will script it, maybe

Also great work, even when I am not going to use this.

@mcmako - Thanks for the feedback, i'll see if I can impliment something like that. It may, however, be too tricky.

@corno1 - Thanks!

Just a quick update on the development:

As of today, all concepts have been completed and we have started production on introducer, CodeWorks and GameWeaver.

I know you said you'd want to keep the price around £10 but I'd easily pay at least £20

This looks good, but I'd be very carefull saying things like 'Similar to the Adobe Suit', then calling part of your suite GameWeaver. It might sound too similar to Adobe's DreamWeaver.
Just a thought...

You got me with that one
Didn't even know they had taken it on, I notice they have it in their CS6 range and wonder if they introduced any new features or simply threw it in there. I haven't even looked at it since MX, and since I don't do website design anymore have no real need for it.

@A Dude,

Not very long mate. Its only a few simple shapes and a very quick path tool. Took probably about 2-3 mins.

Do you want to buy it?

They bought Macromedia back in 2005, lock, stock and barrel, and now own all the old Macromedia IPs, like Flash, Shockwave, Dreamweaver etc etc.

As far as I know, they've actually discontinued developing Dreamweaver from 2009.

Just a quick little update for you guys:
- I'm now adding smaller features and ensuring stability.

I'm trying to figure out a good price for this. It is taking a huge amount of my time but I wouldn't like to make it too expensive, if you could give suggestions on that then that would be pretty cool.

Cheers,
Wheatleyy

Hey guys,

An update for you:
- All of the frameworks have been completed but I need to know if there is still interest in this and would be willing to pay around £16 for the entire package?

Thanks,
Wheatley

Hi Wheatleyy,

I think when it comes to "interest" in your program, it's something that you have to create with pictures, demos, and other things. Unless I missed the program pictures, all I see is a possible logo and a splash screen. If you're thinking of charging $25.00 around here, you're going to have to show a working program and probably a demo (unless you're EAI maybe)

I don't see how anyone can determine if they're interested in something they can't see. Again, if you've shown this elsewhere, then.... never mind!

Brian.

@Wheatleyy - Great idea and definitely worthy of a purchase if it lives up to what you're talking about. I'd suggest maybe a free version with limited / water-marked features, as it's always better to test something before buying.

This tool sounds great an I will definitely buy it when it becomes available.

Good idea!

Tom

btw, 25$ sounds very reasonable for such a tool.

Cheers
