General//Broken Sword
made a lil review on this game...

gotta say, without a doubt this proves to me that Adventure "point'n'click" titles do have a place in todays market, and this is a true evoultion of that genre that quite frankly has some of the best story, visuals and gameplay i've had the fortune to play in years.

It definately is a very strong and worthy successor to the Broken Sword series, and goes to show that you take your time on a title it is going to turn out fantastic.
I'm hoping that Revolution are already working on Broken Sword 4, because this is definately one hell of a title and thank god that it isn't as easy as Broken Sword 2 ... i'm only 5hrs in and the puzzle are already begining to stump me, which only the original Broken Sword was capable of boasting.

also with Legend of the Green Dragon, revolution have recently released Lore of the Temptress. Thier first ever game, and one of the first ever EGA Point'n'Click games - right up there with Leisure Suit Larry and Manic Mansion ^_^
Definately part of the flavour of the month.

http://www.revolution.co.uk without a doubt another of the few and dwindling great uk developers

Having been a total fan of the serious from the start I was extremely pleased to see Edge award the latest game 9/10 in this months issue. Fantastic stuff and well deserved.

Cheers,

Rich

came out Friday in the UK Klariza, so i ordered it from Game.uk hehee ... they deliever pre-orders for the day of release hehee

comes out officially today here.
this new game certainly is one hell of a story, i've got quite far in it now - upto the Congo Temple. Some very good puzzles.
I know alot of the UK peeps have completed it, but i'm like 6hrs in now and just finished the Congo return ... then the entire system crashed hadn't saved in like an hr lol (typical me)

you know one day i may actually complete Broken Sword - Shadow of the Templars. Been stuck in Scotland for like ever lol
can't figure out how the hell to get past that goat in the castle.

Does the goat talk?

There was a talking goat in Broken Sword 2.

If I remember in BS2 you had to give either it a carrot or tie it to something...

... yeah thats good and all, but Broken Sword 2 was ridiculously easy.
I'm talking about Broken Sword 1, where you had the donkey in the castle ruins. You've got to get passed him but there is no way to do it without giving him something or doing something.

Even more annoying is the fact that there's also something that i think i have to do in the pub basement as i did it before so that i get some cutscene of something, but i can't remember what.
lol this is what you get for playing a '94 game lol

I love how the Broken Sword games only have two (I think) buttons whereas something like Simon the Sorceror has about nine.

hmm... that "stuck-in-the-scotland-because-of-a-donkey-situation" does sound very familiar. I believe I got stuck there too. I also believe it was a bug. (you were meant to do something Before that part, but you couldn't go back anymore) Or that might have been the case with broken sword 2. Didn't actually finish either of them.

I finished both of them years ago - have got BS2, but of course it wont work properly with XP. BS3 is the hardest yet... should take longer than the usual 2 days to complete.

Anyone think it would make a good film ?

i think it'd make a pretty cool film... but would have to be CG for my likes, cause i don't like the idea of actors.
would be kinda an Indy Jones adventure.

BS2 works under XP, just have to set it upjust right and be using SP1 or atleast the updated compatibility. But that said it was the only one i completed so far lol
Takes like 5hrs which seemed very short too.

What i've had the chance to see in 3 so far is more of the traditional puzzles and alot more action based events to make it a bit more exciting and make you feel part of it.
I can believe that a few people were able to complete it within a day or two, but i'd be willing to bet they played it until they completed it, cause it seems quite large. Around 14-15hrs gameplay easy.

The only way to finish BS3 in a day would be to play it non-stop, with no breaks, until you do so. For the more casual game it'd last a bit longer I've finished BS1 and BS2 numerous times and what's more, they have a real cross-gender appeal. Both my sisters and my mother and even her sister have all played and finished BS1 and BS2 and none of them are "gamers" in any respect at all. It's just one of those sort of games. I sure hope BS3 appeals to them also, they've been waiting for it for years.

Cheers,

Rich

lmao ... yeah Adventure games without all the violence tend to appeal to a wider crowd than hardcore gamers
it's a pitty that i hear that TSD seems to have a definitive ending, meaning it isn't likely there will be a 4th

The new engine really is something quite remarkable, very simple to pickup and play with ^_^ which makes the game just that bit more enjoyable. Finally got Final Fantasy VII at the same time, before i'd only played bits and bobs ... the battle engine in that is horrible.

I'm wondering does George remind you guys of anyone?
he looks so familar like he's based on some actor or something, been driving me nuts trying to figure out who he looks like though lol

well anyways, i hope the game continues to get progressively harder like the others ... with only an hr if that free a night now should mean this game hopefully with last me a good few weeks.
already had a few places pretty early on where i was a little baffled to what to do next, or i thought i knew but could figure out a way to achieve it.

^_^ some clever puzzles

That'll be a shame if its true...

Yes, the 3D system is very good, although the camera and subsequent change of control gets a bit annoying.

George looks a tiny bit like Tom Hanks (who would be ideal to play him in a film).
