Hello!

Pretty straightforward question this time around... Using the evolved terrain, when I apply a white texture to it, it only ever shows up as a sort of orangey-brown colour. I'm trying to create an alpine sort of environment, but it ends up looking more like grey sand of a desert... I've checked my ambient light colour and whatnot and they're all set to white... Any ideas on how I can make my terrain look whiter? The texture in the below screenshot is pure white, and yet this is what it looks like:

Might be worth pasting the camera renders, which would give you a clue as to when the colour is being affected. I don't know Evolveds shaders and demos too well, but I imagine that there's a lighting shader, shadow shader etc etc, so it might not necesserily be the terrain texture shader that's causing the issue.

Maybe the lighting shader is using a reddish light for the sun. Another option would be to try disabling the lighting shader, and other shaders apart from the terrain shader, and see which one is browning the render.

I got a fever, and the only prescription, is more memes.

Yes, I've noticed that problem too. As VanB says you'll have to wade through the shader codes to see where the colours are being set.

Evolved helped out a bit. Turns out updating the ambient.dds file to a grey scale image stopped the discoloration. But now there's an odd orange line going across the shadow line. I've asked Evolved about it, so when I know why it's happening I'll update the info here

Huzzah! Evolved has worked it out! Just use this alternate AMBIENT.DDS file with mipmaps disabled and it works beautifully

Great news!

Yes, mipmapping can cause all sorts of problems in some situations.

I was curious about evolved's terrain also, but where on his site is it found? I only see these apps:

Map Scape
Tree It
Particle Editor
Material Editor
Texture Tool

Is it one of these or something else?

in the menu choose Code->Advanced lighting. Terrain is one of the examples that come with advanced lighting

You just can use shader without ambient texture. Dont use the function "Set ambient texture" or somethibg like this ( name can vary)

no, it was an example that was included with advanced lighting but is seems evolved removed that example from advanced lighting.
You can download it now as a separate file under Code->Code snippets->LOD Terrain
