For custom Scary Thinker Weapons, is there an easy way to remove all weapons damage, and make it so that it does not create any flak damage when using weapons?
For example, creating a custom book.
I want the character to pick the book up, to be able to read it close or far, and to be able to store it in inventory and open it later if they want to.
But, I don't want them to hit other characters with it or cause damage to walls or objects.
Also, when using the Book Weapon, you can hit things with the left arm, and I would like to make this stop as well.

Thanks!

Hi Unfamillia,
Ok - I didn't get a chance to see it anyway.
Just need to be able to pick up items like books using The Scary Thinker items (weapons) and not have them be able to 'hit' walls and items and leave marks, or use as a weapon against players or hit with left hand. Just want to pick up book, read, place in inventory.

There is an RPG Mod here which should allow that... but I am not familiar with it... happy hunting!

I gather you have the Book models already and set up as weapons so all you have to do to stop any 'attacking' action is to alter a few values in the Book 'gunspec' file.
Example - Use these values here:

Hope this helps.

NOTE - You will have to create your own script to suite the animations for your Book weapon.

Just don't make animation for hitting and dont put "fire" animation command in gunspec.

DISABLEFIREBUTTON=X
Description: This sets whether the fire button can be used or not.
Range: X = 0 – fire button is enabled,
X = 1 – fire button is disabled.

Example: :state=1:disablefirebutton=1

THEORY - you know everything but nothing works. PRACTICE - when everything works but don't know why. For me, theory and practice are combined: nothing works and I don't know why.
