I've been making so many threads recently, and I am sorry. I am using this software for an exam shortly and I am somewhat new to FPS Creator and I would like these things sorted:

Secondly, the lighting in my games is not the best and I do not know why. I simply made a room with a blue light as seen here:

I have also made several levels and the lighting is similar. I would like unlit areas to be dark. I have added lights and changed them to black and this doesnt work. I have seen impressive lighting, but I am not seeing it. Also, I do have my lightmapping on highest. Even when I built the games it would not work. Here are the lighting options in my setup.ini file in regards to lightmapping:

I have taken these from a thread created by Wolf on overcoming the 1.85Gb memory limit. (Also if someone can tell me how to completely bypass this, it would be great!)

tl;dr
How can I make unlit areas dark?
Is it possible to completely overcome the 1.85Gb memory limit? If so, how?

Its gonna be one of those threads again..

But for your benefit, all you need to do is go into your FPSC folder, open up userdetails and put your serial code next to "YourSerialCode=".

As for lightmapping there's a great tutorial here by Wolf: http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=186371&b=21

As for the memory cap, so long as you make good use of optimizing your level, you shouldn't run into it. Bypassing it isn't really an option and it's a problem we all face.

Good luck in your exam!

Quote: "I was using FPSC v1.20 BETA and decided to revert back to V1.19 to resolve some minor issues (now resolved). However, when I went to build the game, I was given the prompt to buy the upgrade from the store. So, I uninstalled FPSC and all the model packs I had and used the disc to re-install and used my serial code. I re-installed and installed the v1.19 upgrade but I am still on the free version."

Some model packs (when installed) will reset your file "userdetails.ini" so that FPSC reverts to "free". To solve, you need to put your name and serial code back into the file and save it (with FPSC closed).

More info is found in this thread.

There's no problem that can't be solved without applying a little scripting.

Alright, I have solved the serial code problem, thanks!
For the lighting, the main problem is that the room is not dark around the source. I want the room to be pitch black and have the light illuminate it more, like in this image (From the thread you linked)

I am looking at the light in the corner in particular. Thank you for the link to the tutorial. It helped out a lot! However, I do not know how to make the room totally dark and it annoys me.

Thanks for the good luck in my exam

No worries, Muzzles56

A quick way to do it:

-File > Build Game
-Click the tab "Level Settings"
-Where it says Global Script, go to the right hand side and click Edit
-Change Ambience Level, Ambience Red, Green and Blue to 0

Now your levels will be pitch black unless you put lights in

Always be sure to experiment with lighting colors, and with that, it should be good.

Shaders and high quality segments can improve the look of your lighting but aren't necessary.

Hopefully that'll help

Thank you so much jmtmew! So the only way to change the ambience is to go to Build Game > Level Settings > Global Script? That's fantastic, I cannot thank you enough.

There are other ways such as by scripting, and you can edit it ingame by using the "<>" keys. But that one is the simplest and stays unlike editing it ingame.

And no worries Muzzles56

I have one more problem that has arised yet again;

I am using model pack 23 (gore/freaks & abominations). I made a small room with a dante entity and it used to appear and function properly. Now it has no texture whatsoever, you can only tell it is there by the small shadow it emits. This happened earlier with brutes but I had to reinstall anwyay due to the reasons I stated earlier. I removed the model pack and reinstalled, but it didnt work. I have not changed the settings in-game, but I checked and it still has all the settings that worked before

Make sure 'full shaders' is turned on in preferences.

NOTE - When you re-install FPSC all the preference settings are reset to default and have to be changed to the ones you had previously (full shaders included).

Hope this helps

Turning fullscreen shaders off (file>preferences) can fix this. But I'm afraid it's due to your graphics card, so it's the only way.

I changed the "width" and "height" items in the setup.ini file under "GAMEDEBUG" to 1920 and 1080 (my resolution), could this be the issue? If so, what are the default values so I can fix it?

I finally got around to discovering the issue. It's been a busy day

Turning off shader effects makes the entity disappear it seems. This doesnt happen for other model packs though. Any way to fix this?
