Ok, so i made this really cool pointer for my game, and I load it it. It works fine. The only problem is, I cant get the white to be transparent. In Photoshop, I have a transparent layer under a paintbrush layer that is painted on transparency. Yet when it is loaded into the game and previewed, the transparent parts are white.

Basically I want parts of the mouse pointer for the game menu to be transparent. How do I do this?

Any help would be appreciated!

I have Photoshop CS5 if this helps.

Thanks!

(p.s. not sure if this goes here, just thought it would cause its "media")

Personally, I always had problems with transparency using TGA. Going to PNG seemed to work better for me. I don't know if that would work for you better or not. My huds were not pointers but text huds that I wanted to be transparent.

THEORY - you know everything but nothing works. PRACTICE - when everything works but don't know why. For me, theory and practice are combined: nothing works and I don't know why.

Try doing black as the background instead of white. Doesn't FPSC convert the files to DDS or something anyways and then black is treated as transparent?

I may be totally wrong, that's just my experience with it

Thanks guys! I'll look into the black transparency and the PNG format. I thought it only took .tga though
