I'm getting really sick of my FPSC copy just collecting dust. I'd like to use it, but beyond just clicking rooms together, I know nothing of modeling, scripting, or any of that essential stuff for making a decent project. Can anybody direct me to good places/software to start with in terms of content creation? Something along the lines of creating objects, animating them, and getting them into FPSC would be helpful.

For scripting i would use FPIeditpad

For modeling i use Milkshape 3D (You should watch some toturials)

I dont know what program is the best for animation, but i heard people saying that its FRAGmotion or something

And, if you want to get your model in to fpsc you will need 3 files,

- a texture file (.tga or .dds format)
- a file of your model (.X file)
- a .fpe file (just copy it from a model that looks alot like your model, and change the model and texture paths to your model files

alot of people seem to like blender and its free so you can pick that up, but personally i use maya. Also for texturing GIMP is a powerful free alternative to photoshop. As for animating, yea, stick with fragmotion(free if you enter the aposthles creed every 7 days). If you have any trouble you can email me. It wasnt too long ago that i was just like you and im still figuring a lot of things out so maybe i can help.

cheers

It is better to stay silent and be thought a fool then to speak up and remove all doubt.
