With FPSC:R being announced last year and now in the early stages of development, I thought that I\'d get my head into full gear for once and actually start developing a game of my own in time for Reloaded
being released (when that will be).
I thought it would be best to start gathering my ideas by playing FPS games from recent years (2007-2012) and perhaps develop my own game from there. However, I\'m completely clueless as to what to actually look for in an FPS game that makes it good (depending on what the player finds as important to a good game.) Any advice on what to look for, what articles to read on FPS Game Development and what pieces of software to use that would be good to use in writing a script for I personally feel that Story is important to a good game regardless of genre.

Thanks in Advance,
GamingGuy.

what a game need:
- a good ai: you should not see any stupid npc
- story in game: If I must read the hole story on loading screens or on a doc that comes with the game, I will not play something like this
- do something never has been done!! Nobody want to see a slender game anymore, or another zombie survival shooter, which is not scrary.
- surprise the player
- graphic: can not be done in current FPSC without a lot of work and workarounds
- teamwork: I do not mean allies, I mean a person who gives you some hints. Everbody see the game with other eyes. everybody want something different and so you must find a good point in the middle.

I hope this helps you. I develope a game myself at the moment, so I also play a lot of games and look what is possible in fpsc.(Alternate Corno)
